Free Music Notes for The Lost Christmas EveFree Music Review: Excellent, (maybe the best), but I am tired of Christmas Hit: 5 Stars
As great as all these Christmas albums are, I am "Christmased out" as far as TSO goes. I still rate this 5 stars because it is absolutely beautiful music, I just want something different...I think Beethoven's Last Night is their best. I went to a TSO Concert a few years back and during the second half of the show, they played a song or two from their "upcoming album" called "Black Castle" (or something like that). I have not seen or heard anything about this album since. But this "Lost Christmas Eve" has since been released. Maybe I heard wrong, but I am really looking forward to some non-Christmas TSO in the (hopefully) near future.
As far as the songs go, my favorites are Christmas Jam (which rocks extremely hard) and Christmas Canon Rock (which is heavy and beautiful at the same time). The male and children chorals worked much better on Beethoven's Last Night but work ok on this album.
PS You HAVE to see these guys in concert, they put on one of (if not the best) shows I have ever seen.
Free Music Review: an amazing Christmas surprise! Hit: 5 Stars
Having only heard select tracks on the radio, I had no idea what Trans-Siberian Orchestra was all about. What a wonderful Christmas surprise! I had gotten the CD for my husband, but our whole family loved it. It comes with a strikingly poignant story-book that weaves a beautiful story around and through the music. (In fact, the music doesn't make nearly as much sense until you read the story.) We started a new Christmas tradition by listening to the CD and concurrently reading the story on a long road-trip to visit grandparents for the holidays. To me, this is almost magically contemporary and traditional at the same time. I suspect it takes someone with a pretty open mind to listen long enough to give it a chance to realize how amazing it is. Do yourself a favor and give it a chance!!! It is a wonderful way to remember the real meaning of Christmas!
Free Music Review: Another top-notch album from an amazing band Hit: 5 Stars
I saw this band in concert on Dec. 18th in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was the best concert I have ever been to in my life. This group is filled with musicians. Okay, now I have to explain that a little. I don't use the word musician very often. I only use it when describing people who play instruments very well and you can tell that they love what they are doing and are not in it for the money. People who get excited while they are playing and have so much energy and enthusiam in there performance. This is Trans-Siberian orchestra. Christmas music has become boring to me. I get tired of the same old tunes. While they still use those tunes they add something different to it. It's mixed with music from many different genres to make it more exciting and make it something you can listen to throughout the year and not just at christmas time.
Free Music Review: TSO is great! Hit: 5 Stars
Going to a TSO concert the week before Christmas really puts you in the mood for the holiday. I already owned their other 2 Christmas CD's. Some of the music they played at the concert was from The Lost Christmas Eve, including the song that is all over the internet with the lighted house blinking in time to the music. I went on Amazon to listen to the songs before I purchased the CD. There wasn't a song that I didn't like, so I purchased the CD. If you enjoy ELO or Kansas you will really enjoy their music. Greg Lake from ELP was the creator of this group and he made a special guest apperance at their show. Next year if TSO is in your area I strongly suggest you go to a concert. You will not be disappointed. They played for almost 3 hours without an intermission! And the light show and fireworks were excellent!
Free Music Review: I love this group Hit: 5 Stars
When this CD came out, I wrote a review for it (although I don't see it listed now) stating that it contained too many instrumentals and was too much like the first two. Even, dare I say it, boring? Bear in mind that I love everything by this group.
Well this year, I wanted something to listen to, so I dragged out this CD again, thinking "ho hum." I had only listened to it a couple times last year.
Maybe I had too much eggnog to drink last year. I listened to it again, having forgotten all the songs on it, and I can only say that I love this one, too. It definitely has all the old TSO charm, all the TSO creativity, and all the TSO freshness. I recommend anything by this group. Love them, love them!
(I just wish they'd come out with new releases faster...)
