Free Music Notes for The Lost Christmas EveFree Music Review: Christmas Canon Rock!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I've waited to digest this TSO release before I wrote a review for it, so here goes. Christmas Canon Rock is enough reason to buy this cd! Whoever the lead vocalist is, needs to record an entire album with the band! As a whole, this release is a little different from the first two. The Lost Christmas Eve seems to be a little more rock oriented with a harder edge than the previous two. All in all, you can't go wrong with Paul O'Neill, Robert Kinkel, Jon Oliva, and the Savatage boys! If you liked the first two, then you're sure to love this release! Also, if you like all of TSO's stuff, then buy Savatage's Dead Winter Dead and Wake of Magellan albums! It only makes sense...trust me, you'll be hooked!
Free Music Review: Listen at least 5 times first Hit: 5 Stars
I'll try to keep this short. If you like TSO's other works you will like this album. Like its predecessors, you have to take the time to listen to this disc several times before coming to a conclusion about whether you like it or not. I would also recommend that you take the time to read all the liner notes, stories and lyrics while you listen to it. None of the TSO library (or that of Savatage) is light background music. In order to appreciate this music, you have to pay attention and follow along.
I think this disc falls slightly short of the previous two in the trilogy. I'd give a 4.5 if I could. But this is the best headbanger christmas music you will ever find. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: WoW. Hit: 5 Stars
Scanning the reviews to date, it looks like the formula is pretty simple: if you loved and expected too much of TSO, you don't like it. If it's one of your first tastes, you're stunned and amazed.
Well, I was introduced by the Christmas Lights video. I bought the disc for that. It only arrived a couple days ago, and I haven't listened to the whole thing yet. I jumped to track 18 because those songs had titles that seemed somewhat familiar. Well, at first I had no reaction. But then I got to the last 3 minutes of track 19 (what child is this?) and was shaken to the very core. In my lifetime I have heard only 4 songs that hit me like that. All I can say is, WOW.
Free Music Review: Now, that's what I'm talkin' about! Hit: 5 Stars
As a major fan of mixing hard rock and orchestra's I'm floored by some of the tracks on this CD. I first learned of Wizards of Winter from the email going around with the house lights (awesome!) and I had to have the music (that person is boosting the sales big time). Although I can do without the broadway musical type tracks, I wouldn't want to damper the orchestra's creativity. There's always a couple songs you could stand not to have on any album. I'd like to see something from TSO with just the hard driving instrumentals...they don't have to be Christmas related...I just thirst for this kind of power driven classical type style!
Free Music Review: Depends on taste, but worth a try! Hit: 5 Stars
TSO is either something you love or you hate. Either the rock element annoys you to death, or you find it a wonderful refresher on Christmas music. I was the later, and I didn't find the rock element to be harsh or odd or annoying, but rather, beautiful and well blended. It rounded out, completed, and modernized old Christmas music. Not too mention, some of the music is completely new, and yet still always feels like Christmas. In sum- if you don't know whether you'll like it or not, give it a try. It is well loved by most people.
The track Wisdom of Snow alone is worth it, but the whole thing is great.
