Free Music Review: A Remake of an iconic 80's soundtrack that is destined to become a classic Hit: 4 Stars
After listening to this inspiring soundtrack several times and comparing it to the new CD that follows the live action blockbuster movie of the summer, I have to say that the 20th anniversary edition CD of "Transformers the movie" is definitely ten times better than the recent live action soundtrack, which has a much more heavy metal combination of rock bands that for the most part make you want to lower the volume. That is except for the song "Hold ON before it's too late" by the Goo Goo dolls. This soundtrack however, which includes the song talents of artists such as, Stan Bush and extremely gifted music composer Vince Dicola conspires to create an album that is over and above better than all the rest. Songs like "Dare" and "Touch" by stan Bush are both uplifting and come with a good clean message. Vince Dicola's awesome futuristic score on the other hand, is what sold this CD for me. Themes like Unicron and Moon Base 2 are some of my personal favorite tracks. With the use of synthesizers and a combination of 80's pop music in the mix, the score fits the film's theme like a well oiled machine. It's too bad that Vince Dicola didn't get an award for best film score or wasn't asked to compose the live action film; his work with this score is amazing! If you haven't listened to this soundtrack yet you definitely need to get it, when you do you'll be in for a real treat and for someone who grew up in the 80's and knows something about the music, this CD will remind you of a different time when music was clean, fun to listen to and came with a message that young people could easily relate to growing up. 10 out of 10 for this soundtrack you'll enjoy every minute of it.
Free Music Review: It's bringing me a lot of enjoyment Hit: 4 Stars
I'm a college student who doesn't have much spending money. But I'd watched "Transformers: The Movie" and been intrigued by the music. You might say that this album was an impulse purchase. After I'd clicked "Submit" I was already doubting the wisdom of my decision.
Once the CD arrived, however, my regrets disappeared. This music has been bringing me a lot of enjoyment while I wash the dishes at night. "The Touch" and "Dare" have especially given me a great deal of encouragement, as school has been a bit difficult this semester.
I'm not a music expert, so it's hard to describe this album. But if you like 80's style rock, you'll probably enjoy this album. The rock instrumentals are unlike anything else I've heard, combining simple melodies with a rich palette of unusual sounds. And obviously, if you're a Transformers fan, the images evoked by the music add a whole new dimension of meaning to the album.
The only reason I haven't given this album 5 stars is that there are one or two songs I don't care for much, and some memorable fragments of the score have not been included. Otherwise, this album is a real treat. I'm glad I bought it.
Free Music Review: Vince Dicola is a remarkable composer Hit: 4 Stars
There is some fantastic material on this CD, and certainly not enough. I loved the material that Vince Dicola wrote not only for this film, but for Rocky 4. It's a shame there isn't more of his material for these two iconic 80's gems available.
Vince Dicola's score fit this motion picture perfectly, and I can't think of a better sound to fit the fluid, colorful animation of this film. the bonus tracks are a definite plus, but there is so much more music that could have been added here.
