Free Music Notes for Trapt

Free Music Review: Soft, but powerful
Hit: 4 Stars

This album is pretty good, it short terms. If you heard Trapt on the radio and liked it, you might be in for a bit of a suprise. The radio commonly plays the hard, rocky tunes of Headstrong and Still Frame. They do play Echo, but thats a type of ballad that isn't repeated, either. Everything else on the CD is it's own thing. I wouldn't call it soft rock, but more like 'restricted rock'. I say that because the rest of the songs are all really good tunes, but they aren't as rocked up as you might think. It sounds like some try to hit the marks of Still Frame and Headstrong, but don't really need to, so they don't turn out as hardcore as you would expect. The lyrics are pretty good, and the songs all have differnt sounds, which keeps you from getting bored. The tones and volumes are balanced well, to keep your attention. The CD ends on in my oppinion, the best song on the album. It has a strong edge to it, and ends on a slow, psychodelic pitch.

Overall, This CD may not be right for all you die-hard metal heads out there, but for the more civilized rock fans, this is perfect. Listen to the samples if you aren't sure of buying it.

Free Music Review: This band has a definitive and developed sound!
Hit: 4 Stars

I agree that Trapt aren't for every POP hating, wannabe punk/metal generationist, but they have a definifitive sound that instantly captured my attention and I suppose the others that gave the band good reveiws. The first track I heard was Echo. This song, is without a doubt one of the simplest tunes to play, but this isn't a bad thing. Its simplicity is the reason why it has so much atmosphere. You see, I'm into alterative/intelligent mostly and listen to stuff by the likes of Coldplay, Radiohead and Muse. These bands have the ability to create spine tingling melodies, and Trapt are one of these bands. After hearing Echo I listened to the album, thinking it wasn't going be all that great (thinking with a narrow mind). However, it is actually all really good. I think Headstrong, These Walls and Echo are the best tracks. Anyone really can give this band a listen.

Free Music Review: dont listen to : J. Mortensen "dustin-duster "
Hit: 1 Stars

This guy has no idea what he is talking about. My cousin told me about this band and said it's the best cd to listen to when your pissed off and the best music he's ever heard. So I gave it a listen...huu? um?... maybe this was the wrong cd...i took it out and...no it was TRAPT alright. This is some of the most un original mtv bullcrap I ever heard. The singer sounds like crap and the guitars and drumming are to that of a 12 year old. And don't listen to "J. Mortensen dustin-duster " this guy no's nothing about the music he listens to. He calls Greenday punk and Flaw metal. Greenday is pop and flaw is nu metal, and realy crappy nu metal at that!

Free Music Review: Quite a Debate!
Hit: 5 Stars

I've looked the other reviews for Trapt and must say everyone has been entitled to there own opinion. Now, i'm one of those guys who doesn't really have a set genre. I'll listen to anything pretty much: Metal (Flaw), Punk (Green Day), Classic (AC/DC), heck! even emo (Dashboard Confessional). Trapt is indeed different from any other band that ive heard. There kinda metal, yet kinda emo. Not all that hard compared to bands like Slipknot and Korn. But thats not band, in fact i consider it a good thing. Being a Mormon, i try to be careful about the music i listen. A lotta kids at kids bash me about the music i listen to (I listen to a lotta emo like Dashboard, Yellowcard, Finch, etc.) I prefer not to listen to totally hardcore bands like Slipknot, but Trapt is different. They're similar to two my favorite bands, Switchfoot (christian rock) and Flaw (alternative metal). These 3 bands are some of the few that "combine explosive guitars with an intense longing for meaning" (a quote i got from the switchfoot website). There are a lot of other bands that are like this, too, like Hoobastank, Maroon 5, Blindside, and Skillet. These are the bands that i truly appreciate. Trapt is definately a great. Sure they cuss a little (bought edited cd) but thats ok. I love songs like headstrong (love listening to it when i'm pissed off), echo (when i'm thinking about someone i love), and stories (when i'm thinking about just life in general). I know there are a lotta of people who say rock has been totally ruined and that we need more bands like AC/DC, Led Zepplin, The Clash, etc. Sure they're cool bands, but if people really care about those bands why don't they do something about it? why don't they start the new AC/DC of the 21 century or something? I don't know if im making my point or not, but the point is out with the old in with new. Hate to brake it to ya'll but its true, unless you want to do something about it! So those guys bash bands like Trapt, Switchfoot, Yellowcard, U2, etc etc etc! Just quit bashing those christian, punk, emo, and/or any nu-rock bands in general (expect maybe Good Charlotte and Simple Plan. bash 'em all u want cuz i don't like 'em). I like what i like and if you don't like it screw you! Bands like Trapt ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Free Music Review: I agree...
Hit: 4 Stars

Yeah. I'm not to be confused with the "other" Maynard down there. I got curious and checked out the other guys' reviews. GEEZ, what a loser. The fact is, being a teenager, sexually confused, or a geek, has nothing to do with the talent that Trapt carries. Okay, maybe the band is for teenagers. Wow! Old people like the guy down there listen to their Marvin Gaye on a nightly basis while they're home alone wishing they had a wife. Does that make ME bitter and go write nasty reviews of the band based on MY perception of the stereotypical audience? As a matter of fact, I like Marvin Gaye. I also like Elton John, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Deftones, and The Temptations. A wide variety. Another thing is, maybe you should pick up a guitar and learn to play one of these songs. Oh that's right, you can't play guitar. I can only assume since anyone that had any clue about music, like the band or not, could appreciate the talent in Trapt. (By the way, the "Crap't" must've taken you hours to think of and write, not to mention the 4,000 words in your "crap't" FREAKIN' ESSAY!)

BUT that out of the way... The songs:

1. Headstrong- Good way to start off the CD. Strong riffs and very original musically.

2. Made of Glass- Sad yet hopefull music. This song delivers a fat slice of emotion, and rips into a balladish chorus.

3. Hollowman- Nice recovery from MOG . Straight forward lyrics in a wellthought out progression.

4. These Walls- Not my favorite song musically, but very stong chorus.

5. Still Frame- Guitars has the right mixture of mute and distortion to carry this song along with interest all the way through. Good song.

6. Echo- By far the slowest song on the CD. Makes you want to sit and stare at the stars, or something. Also, a good song to listen to with your girlfriend. (for those of us that HAVE girlfriends.)

7. Game- Well deserved change with the bass intro. Powerful riffs and perfectly timed stops.

8. When All Is Said and Done- Probably the most uncharactoristic song on the CD. This is probably what they sounded like in the garage days. Yeah, you're right, they're probably corporate.

9. Stories- Acoustic Track. Nice break from the drums. Not that the drums are bad, they're just really punchy and it's nice to have an acoustic track. Good move Trapt.

10. New Begining- Have I heard this intro before? Well, the classical intro/pre-chorus piece in really good. Reminds me a Castlevania game or something.

That's all. Oh... and Stone Temple Pilots aren't that good.
