Free Music Notes for TraptFree Music Review: Trapts Rising Hit: 4 StarsThe CD I'm reviewing is Trapt. They are a sort of rock alternative group. Trapt is under the label of Warner Brothers. Its current rating on amazon is 4 stars. Their first CD was released on November 2, 2005, and costs about 18 dollars in stores. So far on amazon they've sold 5,386 copies of this CD. This CD was very popular when it first came out but now (2005) it's not too popular anymore. They are a pretty well known group that has been around for about three years.
This CD was their first released, hopefully they'll record more. This CD wasn't a huge change as far as beats and bass goes. But, I really enjoyed this CD because even though they didn't revolutionize anything, they still have good vocal, acoustic, drums, and bass. When I first listened to this CD I really liked it and listened to it a lot, it's a good CD to listen to when you cleaning or working out. A couple of the tracks that I really like for their beats and vocals are: Headstrong, Made of Glass, Hollowman, and Still Frame. There is one bad track on this, it doesn't have any vocals or bass, its all beats its called New Beginning.
Trapt reminds me of Lincoln Park in a way, they used some of their beats in their CD. I would rate this CD overall, with a 4 out of 5. I think rock and alternative listeners will be happy with this group. If you like to listen to slower music...you don't want to listen to Trapt.
My personal ratings for all the tracks are: Headstrong 5/5, Made of Glass 4/5, These Walls 3.5/5, Still Frame 5/5, Echo 3/5, The Game 2/5, When its All Said and Done 5/5, Engima 2.5/5, and New Beginning 1/5.
Free Music Review: Major label debut from all-or-nothing Californian rockers Hit: 3 StarsWere a visiting alien to land on your roof intent on discovering where rock was heading in 2003, you could probably satisfy its curiosity with Trapt. Twists of post-hardcore jazz up straight metal sensibilities, the whole thing still staying shiny enough for mainstream radio acceptance. Trapt, to their credit, have always sounded like this (they've already self-released two albums) and have actually walked away from major labels that wanted to change them.Take Finch or The Used, blunt their more abrasive edge, and you'll know Trapt already. First single and US radio hit "Headstrong" is the perfect shot across the bowls, all jabbing melodies and urgent riffs, and hits-in-waiting like "These Walls" and the mountainous "Enigma" are similarly fine. Sadly, several tracks do sound thrown together by comparison, rendering "Trapt" a promising, if imperfect, introduction to planet metal.
Free Music Review: HAHA Hit: 1 StarsI have taken sh*ts that stink less than this band. Damn Mainstream Nu-Metal suckiness... There's really not much more to say about this album.
Free Music Review: Listen to the WHOLE thing. Hit: 5 StarsWhoever puts this CD down hasn't listened the whole thing. If they did, they would realize that "Headstrong" is probably the worst song on the whole CD. This CD is amazing, and if you get the chance check out Trapt's other stuff, because every song is amazing. "Made of Glass", "These Walls", "When All is Said and Done", "Stories", and "New Beginning" are all solid addicting songs. This band deserves every ounce of credit that comes their way. Amazing.
Free Music Review: It's what you'd expect from warner brothers records Hit: 5 StarsI don't care how much you love or hate this band, NO ONE can deny that the music, production and overall layout of "trapt" is 5 star material. This is the label that brought us Linkin park, one of the highest selling rock acts in history, so would you expect anything else they put out to be less than perfect???
Didn't think so. Now as for me, I usually don't listen to too much modern rock anymore (my interests have shifted into pop-punk and emo territory), but Trapt is one of my exceptions. This is good, quality music, no two ways around it. And while it is a pretty commercial (note: the immediate "merch order form" right as you open the case), I get the same from my indie labels like DTR and Victory, so it doesn't bother me. As for the actual music; "Stories" is probably one of the best acoustic cuts I've ever heard (and it hurts me to say that being a big dashboard fan), "echo" is melodic and beautiful, "headstrong" is very catchy, and "hollowman" is simply awesome. Perhaps the only weakness in "trapt" lies in the song "still frame", which isn't too say its weak, but its not as good as the other 5 star cuts.
Upside: Where to begin...Almost everything about this album is awesome, except...
Downside: "Still frame", and occasionally, it seems like trapt loses the emotion they were trying to convey and replaces it with something more "radio friendly"...
You'll like Trapt if you like:...like I said, I'm not too big on "modern rock" anymore, but I guess Breaking Benjamin, 12 Stones and Linkin Park all have their similarities to Trapt...
