No recuerdo el dia exacto, en que despues de buscar por cielo mar y tierra el disco de los Wilburys apareció frente a mi en una feria popular donde venden cosas usadas. Claramente el dueño hasta ahi de ese disco no sabia lo que tenia en sus manos (pague solo 6 dolares !!!). Gracias a Roy, George, Bob, Tom y Jeff ese fue un dia TREMENDO en mi historia de busqedas de joyitas de la musica... hasta hoy.
Cuando vi esta edicion reeditada de los discos por fin en mis manos pense, ¿en que momento me llamaron para preguntarme que me gustaria que un disco de los Wilburys tuviera? Creanme, esta hecho a la medida con todo lo que siempre busque y no estaba en ninguna parte (ni en ferias populares).
Gran sonido, Bonus Tracks, Edicion de lujo y un documental con la historia del grupo que te lleva al borde de las lagrimas en un homenaje a Roy Orbison viendolo en sus ultimas horas. Si eres un fan perdido de los Wilburys esto es para ti, si quieres descubrir a los Wilburys esto tambien es para ti.

Free Music Review: Wilburys - Better than ever? YES!

Being that I retired from the music business and, after hearing the Wilburys, started playing again... I am just a wee bit biased.
This package is about as perfect as it could be. There is somewhat of a limit on what could have been done on the DVD but it is still a treat. The END OF THE LINE video reminds me of the classiest tribute that rock and roll has ever had, the guitar strewn rocking chair saving Roy Orbison's place. Still brings tears to my eyes. He died on top!
The harmonies, the varied voices (the best voice in rock (Orbison) to the weary voices of Petty and Dylan and peak-career voices of Lynne and Harrison) plus the songwriting. Damn, magic in a bottle!
This is a true super-group. Not hiding behind instruments, voices drive this train!
The astral plane has been busy lately, George and Roy are having a party. A new generation will hear the long-discontinued Wilburys discs. Check out Dhani Harrison's debut project thenewno2 (they're a dot com too).
Free Music Review: Superb is understatement

I just got this as a gift. I thought...Wilburys? It's been a long time. So I play the audio. "You Took My Breath Away" applies. This is a truly great rock n' roll album. We have an incredible eclectic collection of George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, and (on the first album) Roy Orbison, all intermixed and/or taking turns to get their licks in, and at the top of their games (Roy's song "You're Not Alone Anymore" may be his greatest song, IMHO). The guitar rock - acoustic or electric - is simply terrific and driving. The lyrics are mostly great. The presentation is like a dream: leading vocals by some of the greatest rock voices of all time, sometimes switching from one great to another. The backups of course are marvelous.
I won't go into details - there are some outstandingly perspicacious reviews below, where fans tell one everything that needs to be known about who does what, how they came to be, etc. Buy and savor this album. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Free Music Review: One of the Best hits collections

The Beatles' George Harrison, Electric Light Orchestra's Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty. Sounds like one hell of a super group, doesn't it? Well, it was! Back in 1988 this five some hooked-up to write and perform the kinds of music they do best. Alone, the five each had their own unique sound. Together, they brought all those sounds together to take themselves to a higher plane. It also helped that they were the closet of friends.
Although they only released two studio albums, the meat-and-potatoes of those albums can be found here (okay, it's both albums with bonus tracks). "Handle with Care" and "End of the Line" were perhaps their most memorable, but each track falls in line with the Americana sound that the Wilburys were known for. Two previously unreleased tracks are included on each disc. Where most bonus tracks are filler and junk, the ones included here are quite good. Be sure to look for the 3 disc Deluxe Edition that includes a live DVD performance

I can't believe we had to wait until 2007 for this awesome collection to be released ! Sadly, the T.W. albums have been out of stock for years. Now we can enjoy the remastered version of their hits and unrealeased tracks in this awesome collection featuring a bonus DVD.
For those unfamiliar with the band, the members are Jeff Lynne from ELO, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison who passed away while in this band, George Harrison and Bob Dylan. All five used to have some kind of great success in the past so no one was looking for easy money or pretension. All five are great musicians who brought unique styles and creations to rock music. And, most of all, there was already great friendship between the members when they began working together.
The result => a genial and highly enjoyable piece of creation. This collection features memorable songs that should remain in music history as a perfect example of how camaderie can bring gorgeous results in the studio.
