My first experience with Trentemoller came from the outstanding 2006 essential mix (october 15) which completely blew me away with his mellow, ambient electronic tones. since then, my appreciation of other artists in this genre has been shaped by the standard that trentemoller set. it's of course little doubt that i ran out and purchased his album (the last resort, amazon link: The Last Resort) and loved every second of it.
this album continues the greatness established by the first. as you can tell from the product description, this is filled with alot of his preselected picks, so a lot of general pieces will come back again (especially from the first album), but for the most part they are all freshly remixed and inventively presented. even now legendary and well-known pieces like Moan and Snowflake get amazing treatment, with their original motifs present but further amplified with further work done on the part of trentemoller.
if you are remotely interested in this genre of music, it behooves you to take a look at trentemoller and, consequently, this album. deeply atmospheric, at times haunting, but always fantastic - it's worth every dollar you spend.
