Free Music Notes for Labyrinth: From The Original Soundtrack Of The Jim Henson FilmFree Music Review: Unlike Jareth, this music has power over anyone... Hit: 5 StarsI have been a Jim Henson fan since I was young. It's sad that I was never able to see Labyrinth back during it's prime but I did however become attatched to The Dark Crystal. Now that I am older, I finally bought Labyrinth. And three hours later I went out and bought the Soundtrack.
The soundtrack is an amazing soundtrack. When I listen to it I can clearly invision the scenes from the movie. I have become a small fan of David Bowie and his singing voice (not to mention his many vocal talents). I am in love with "As The World Falls Down" because it's one of those songs that can sing you to sleep, whisper in your ear. It's a beautiful melody that is played throught the movie.
But what I really think deserves a lot of credit is Trevor Jones hauntingly synthizied score. It reminds me of the 80's! "Sarah" has to be my favorite track, because of its almost hypnotic fairy-like melody and the interweving of Jareth's theme. And the last insturmental, "Home At Last", when Sarah sees her friends from the other world wish her a farewell.
"...If you need us."
And then the reprise of Underground on a more happier theme!
Clearly, if you are a fan of 80's music, David Bowie, Jim Henson, fantasy, Trevor Jones--in final words, GET THIS SOUNDTRACK! Even if you are not that much of a Bowie fan, you will learn to at least appreciate him! :)
Free Music Review: Terrific soundtrack Hit: 3 StarsI have a tendency lately to purchase soundtracks to some of my favorite movies and I purchased this one specifically for the beauty of Bowie's "As the World Falls Down". I was mesmerized by the music in the film's ball scene and I find the music stands alone just as beautifully.
This soundtrack is a return to 80's electronica (Trevor Jones) with Bowie vocals thrown in for really good measure. If you're a Bowie fan you'll be happy; his original lyrics/music are classic, even though they weren't chart toppers.
Some of Jones' tracks are a little odd (as are some of the scenes in the film...I still don't like the freaky creatures who play basketball with their heads and the music is just as unpleasant to me), but all of Bowie's tracks are a pleasure to hear.
Like I said, I purchased this primarily for the one track, but was happy with all of Bowie's productions.
Free Music Review: Great!!! Hit: 4 StarsI am a Huge fan of the movie and the soundtrack lacks only a little bit. The songs are great but the goblin voices are different in the soundtrack. I was a little disappointed when I first heard it. I guess maybe I was expecting the same voices from the movie. Don't get me wrong this is one of the best soundtracks you could ever buy. Magical!
Free Music Review: Great! Hit: 5 StarsIn 1986 Jim Henson's wonderful movie, Labyrinth, came out. A very entertaining movie, Labyrinth featured many wonderful songs by the great David Bowie, and now you can own the soundtrack to that movie. This CD has twelve songs from the movie, all of which are excellent to listen to even if you haven't seen the movie. My favorite is the wonderful As The World Falls Down, which is actually one of my all-time favorite David Bowie songs. So, if you are a fan of David Bowie, or just a fan of great music, then you must get this CD. My family and I highly recommend it to you.
Free Music Review: Great - with only a little wincing from David Bowie Hit: 4 StarsI loved this movie. I agree with the poster below; this type of fantasy touches something in women. We love this magic-guy-in-love-with-the-real-world-heroine story. The music is haunting, mystical, sometimes silly (The Goblin Battle), and altogether wonderful. Two of David Bowie's songs - "Chilly Down" and "Magic Dance" made me rate this four stars because I truly do not care for these two tunes. The rest, however, paints a perfect picture of fantasy, especially the lovely "Sarah" the almost heartbreaking "Home at Last," and the whole reason for buying the soundtrack, the stellar "As The World Falls Down." All in all, a damn good album.
