Listen carefully to the sound samples. I didn't and look who's crying now. I should've known, I pulled the name of this group off of an NPR radio skit about the new sound coming out of Brazil. I kick myself for this because I always am disappointed by my NPR inspired purchases. This is no exception. The music contained on this is anodyne but not pleasantly so. I guess the metaphor would be how a junkee feels on methadone vs the kick he gets from a snootful of heroin. The sound is innocuous, if pleasant, but has no life, no spark, no joie de vivre, if you get my je nes c'est quoi, or whatever. Don't buy this unless you like bland and uninspiring background music, pleasant notwithstanding. Track 11 is nice, however. As is Track 12 which unwittingly samples Sly & the Family Stone's "It's a Family Affair." If you would like to hear something that I believe represents the Real NEW sound of Brazil, check out a band 'Zuco 103.' Whether it is the kind of sound you want, it is at least original.
