Free Music Notes for BlowBack AlbumFree Music Review: Brilliant as well as bad Hit: 3 StarsI have been buying Tricky CDs since his first release, the seminal "Maxinquae". And every time I find that that first release was something he can never do again. Tricky's latest album "Blowback" has a few "Maxinquae" moments. The first two tracks left me totally excited - only to find myself crushed by the third track. It goes on like this. In the end, the number of songs which are really good equals the number of songs which are really bad. If you're also wondering whether this is another "Maxinquae" you should at least listen to it in the store before you decide to buy it. If you're just curious I think you will also be left a little bit puzzled by a somewhat incoherent mix of styles. There are plenty of guest stars on this album but somehow, that's not what you want if you buy a Tricky CD. Tricky's way of "rapping/singing" is so peculiar that you find yourself wanting more of it on the album. Well, I guess this somehow incoherent review matches the album. I give it three stars. Five for the highlights and none for the crap. Makes three on the average.
