I think this band is just awesome. This album has some soft rock on it, but on the other hand it also has some rap/rock on it. My favourite song is definitely Friends & Family. It's a soft rock ballad and it has a very catchy tunes and great lyrics. I also liked Existence and Sacrifice very much. Other songs that I think are also great are Ish, New York Groove and Father.
This album is a great mix of rap and rock. In some songs rap is more dominant in others rock. So there's something for everyone. If you like music from Linkin Park, Papa Roach and Three Days Grace, and if you like Everlast's singing (the singer sounds just like him on Friends & Family), you'll like this one too.
Trik Turner Poster
Trik Turner isn't rap-rock or nu metal, though they incorporate elements of both genres into their major-label debut. At times, the Phoenix sextet is more akin to alt-rockers Everlast, especially on "Sacrifice" and "Friends & Family." On the latter, TT flesh out soulful, acoustic-influenced hip-hop with a lovely string arrangement. From the hip, midtempo rhythmic rock of "Existence," Trik Turner create a familiar sound that's nevertheless slightly distinct from their Creed- and Korn-spawned brethren. Like Papa Roach, family life is explored in the aggro but dynamic "Father," while rap-ghetto stylings render Ace Frehley's "New York Groove" nearly unrecognizable. The latter part of the album is more rap leaning, with "Black Sheep" and "Triks of the Trade" standing out. If Trik Turner covers a lot of the ground between the rap and rock worlds, they do so with style, substance, and a signature sound. --Katherine TurmanHard Rock & Metal Music CDs
