Free Music Notes for Trio II (Two)

Free Music Review: Very Easy Listening
Hit: 4 Stars

After the Goldrush was beautiful and i loved the glass armonica. I liked it as well as the Trio. I would recommend it to someone else.

Free Music Review: This is a BIG disappointment
Hit: 2 Stars

It lacks the blending of voices that was so charming in Trio I. I'm still hoping that at least one song will "grow on me."

Free Music Review: Overall, it's very nice. A few flaws in the recording, tho..
Hit: 4 Stars

First of all, I loved the first Trio album. I'm so glad that they didn't ride the success of that one and throw out a second one a few months later. This one is worth the wait. I've been a fan of Linda Ronstadt for over 20 years, and I think her voice is as beautiful as ever. Emmylou sounds great, too. The original Trio album caused me to improve my feelings toward Dolly Parton as well, and this one continues those feelings (I'm not a big fan of her solo work, but as part of this trio, she's as dynamic as the rest).

One thing that gets me, however, is a terrible flaw in the mix. On the first cut, "Lover's Return," there's a flaw that, now that I've noticed it, I will hear every time I listen to it, forever.

At about 1:12, the guitar on the right is cut off suddenly. The entire balance is shifted and it actually "hurts" every time I hear it. The player didn't simply stop playing; the track was quite obviously switched off at that point. No effort seems to have been made to smooth it out, either.

Basically, I can't believe that this was allowed to make it on the final mix; and I certainly can't believe that nobody noticed it before me.

Back to the album. As with any collection, I don't absolutely love every track, but I can't think of too many albums where I do. That said, the songs are great, the performance is wonderful, and their voices - combined and solo - are as great as ever.

If it weren't for the flaw, I'd give it all five stars.

Free Music Review: RIPOFF! ! FIVE SONGS FROM A PREVIOUS RONSTADT CD!!
Hit: 1 Stars

What a ripoff! This CD has 5 songs from Ronstadt's "Feels Like Home" CD!!!

I want my money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Free Music Review: beautiful voices....outstanding in today's music
Hit: 5 Stars

Although I was in my early 20's when Trio came out and was not into country music I found it to be refreshing and just a beautiful example of what voices can do. Now of course I am older and do have more varied musical tastes and was looking forward to Trio II. I think this is an outstanding cd. In today's musical climate it is again refreshing to hear what voices, harmonizing and a dose of simplicity can do. Although not perfect, I would be hard pressed to offer much criticism. All that really struck me was that for fans of these women, one may have heard some of these before on Linda Ronstadt's cd "Feels Like Home" or the original Parton song "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind". Particularly outstanding I think is the Dolly Parton helmed "After the Goldrush" incredibly beautiful.....Kudos to all this is really a welcome release, and I do hope they get together once in a while to bring us more.
