Free Music Review: Home run
Hit: 5 Stars

I don't get it - I read great reviews for this in Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone. I see a lot of rave reviews on this site, but the average is way low. Did something happen with Clay Aiken's fans? I also see a bunch of dumb single-sentence dismissals, and recommendations for Clay's CD. What a joke. This album is great! I can see where some people might prefer Triumph only when he insults people, but I also love his Westminster Dog Show sketches, and the dirty songs about dogs (the already familiar "Underage Bichon"("she told me she was one!"), "Lick Myself", "30 Seconds of Magic") are not just funny, but fun to listen to. I can only imagine how much fun a Triumph concert would be now, with the crowd able to sing along. Then you have the great "I Keed" plus "Together in Pooping", a "We Are The World" parody insult tune that's even funnier than I Keed. Throw in the explosively funny "Cats Are (the c word)s" and Triumph's all-out assault on Blackwolf the Dragon Master (familiar to fans of Triumph "Star Wars Line" interviews) and you've already earned your five stars, doggie. I also liked the crank calls, especially the hilariously painful Chinese restaurant call.

Insult fans will love the DVD. Triumph's interviews here are actually funnier than his old insult segments on Conan, because you get to see the celebrities (Kurt Loder, the Dell Guy, Vinnie Pastore, Jared, Janeane Garofalo, etc.) actually try to fight back and match wits with a puppet. Of course, they fail terribly, making the subsequent poopings even funnier.

I haven't laughed as hard from a comedy album in years. Whatever happened between Triumph and Clay Aiken, don't let it get in the way of your good times. Ignore the numbers, this album is a home run.

Free Music Review: Too much great stuff?
Hit: 5 Stars

Where do you start? There are so many funny songs here. Yes, a lot of them are about dogs and sex, but taken separately, they are all hilarious, every damn one of them. "My Mama", for example. Maybe the funniest of them all, just because Triumph is at his sweetest and grossest all at once, asking a stray to be gentle with his skanky old mom. "Hey, Mister, that's my mama you're shtupping..." Later he traces the song's "yiddish" origins and the song gets even funnier. Yes, it's another dirty dog track, but it's also nothing like those other songs. You could make the case for any track the same way. This is carefully written and crafted filth. And, yes, inspired. No, it's not what Triumph does on TV, but we have TV for that.
On the other hand, the hour long DVD is chock full of celeb interviews and typically great Triumph putdowns:
These are not only on par with Triumph's best putdowns on the Conan show (except for maybe the unmatchable Star Wars routine), but they come with an added element of danger, as the interviews are conducted live and unedited in front of an audience. The back-and-forth with Pastore, as well as the bombed Dell Guy have to be seen to be believed.

If anything, maybe the producers could have cut a few tracks from the packed cd, but all the songs are worthy, and in this hi-tech age you can zap to your favorites anyway. "I Keed" is a good laugh right now, but the rest of this great comedy album will stand the test of time.

Free Music Review: The DVD worth it alone!
Hit: 5 Stars

I could not stop laughing watching this DVD. I love Triumph on Conan and here you get to see him really lay into some people. Kurt Loder and the fat VJ from MTV 2 try to fight back, and it only makes Triumph stronger. Big Pussy from the Sopranos curses out Triumph at the top of his lungs. I thought he was going to attack him. But Triumph keeps his cool and puts him in his place. It was truly raw, scary, and hysterically funny. Everyone talks about the Dell Guy and how drunk he was. It's amazing he made it through the interview. Jared from the Subway ads throws sandwiches at the crowd from a pair of his old pants. The sandwiches aren't well wrapped and the result is as strange as it is hilarious.

Then there are the songs like "Cats are (blank)" with a funny-as-hell Conan cameo. Jack Black explosive as always on Bob Barker, a really good and funny Limp Bizkit parody. The crazy nerd wizard from the Stars Wars line, Blackwolf, almost steals the show from everyone. Horatio Sanz is completely out-of-control hysterical on "You Have to Work Blue", maybe the best song of all. And the finale including everybody (plus Sandler!) is not to be missed.

The CD has a lot of the same great songs, so you can laugh at them in your car, plus at least 7 or so that aren't on the DVD, including the great single "I Keed," "Underage Bichon," and the Sandler duet, "30 Seconds of Magic." And Triumph's panicked phone call to an STD hotline is an audio classic.

Free Music Review: just hysterical
Hit: 5 Stars

Triumph is the funniest comic around right now. His performance with Dave Grohl at the Billboard Awards was legendary. They ripped into Britney, Madonna, Enrique, American Idol and practically everyone there. The DVD is packed with funny interviews from his live shows. Thrill to Triumph pooping on Kurt Loder, Jared the Subway Guy, The very drunk Dell Guy, Janeane Garafalo, Big Pussy and many others. Plus you get to see some of the great songs you hear on the CD performed live, with people like Conan, Jack Black and Adam Sandler.
And then there's the CD. So many funny songs, like "Benji's Queer", "Lick Myself", "Together in Pooping", the romantic rap "30 Seconds of Magic", and of course "I Keed". And funny crank calls to people who have no idea they're talking to a "dog" (the STD hotline is especially priceless). Triumph suppressing his giggling makes it even funnier, like when he was teasing the Stars Wars fans. Either the CD or DVD alone would be well worth the money, together it's an embarrasment of riches. Poop on!

Free Music Review: Funny as hell
Hit: 5 Stars

It seems like everyone's giving this either one or five stars. I'll go for five. If you like it, it hits the bullseye. Yes, it's dirty. It's like an old fashioned dirty comedy album (Triumph even pays tribute to Redd Foxx) but from a dog's perspective. There's lots of great stuff you don't get on TV, hilarious phone calls and nasty songs about cats, Benji, Bob Barker and the legendary Blackwolf nerd from Triumph's Star Wars sketch. And some great insult songs, not just "I Keed" but the epic "Together in Pooping" with Conan, Sandler, Black, Sans and Rudolph. Even cooler to see it on the DVD.

Oh, yeah, the whole DVD is outstanding. Not just songs, but plenty of interviews with pooping targets like the Dell Guy, Big Pussy, and Jared. (And the interview with Kurt Loder may be the best of all) The dirty stuff on the CD isn't for everybody, I doubt it was ever meant to be. But until we see a DVD collection of Triumph's sketches on the Conan show, this will satisfy a lot if not all of his fans.
