Free Music Notes for Come Poop with Me (CD & DVD)Free Music Review: GOOD DOG! Hit: 5 Stars
You either get it or don't, I guess. Can't understand the 3 star average. I read a great review in an old Entertainment Weekly and found the CD at Virgin. Every song works, some are downright classics (I want to see a video for Together in Pooping). Jack Black rocks hard in studio and live DVD versions of the hilarious Bob Barker. Conan's cameo is priceless as well. The crank yanker style calls are great because the people don't understand they're talking to a dog. It's amazing how long some of them go without ever getting it. The poor nurse at the STD clinic is totally stumped and weirded out. It's a little pricey but a bargain when you throw in the DVD, which features some of the best songs on the CD and some very funny battles with Kurt Loder and Big pussy. Triumph really mixes it up with the celebs in a way we don't see on the Conan show. When he zeroes in on Jaed and the drunk Dell Guy, it's Triumph Zen for sure.
Free Music Review: Laffy Laffy Laffy HA HA Hit: 5 Stars
"I Keed" is a hilarious song and video, but it is only the beginning. There are so many funny songs on this album it's mind-boggling. There's some crude subject matter, but it's anything but lowbrow. The lyrics and musical parodies are as smart and sophisticated as any comedy CD you're likely to hear. If you're sharp enough to see the wit behind an absurdist song like "You Have to Work Blue" (and you are) then you'll love this CD. "Come Poop With Me" goes way beyond the obvious into sublime territory. Check out "Lick Myself", a gem of wordplay and a brilliant satire of mundane white culture. Beyond the great songs are some funny phone calls and a DVD in which Triumph knocks down a parade of show business losers and near-losers, all solid, signature Triumph stuff. Fans of maybe the funniest comic around today (who makes you laugh harder?) will have plenty to love here
Free Music Review: I love this CD Hit: 5 Stars
I saw this in the top ten of the NPR music critic and I had to check it out. It doesn't disappoint. The cranks to the Chinese restaurant and the STD clinic are way funny. I love how catchy all the songs are, in addition to making me laugh. I have to get "Cats are C__ts" out of my head or I'll get fired for sure. Jack Black helping Triumph blast "Bob Barker" killed me. Maybe I'm ill but the dirtiest songs "My Mama" and "You have to Work Blue" are also incredible.Listening to Triumph is like going back to the 50's and 60's. His songs, crudeness and one-liners are very old-fashioned but the jokes are sharp and hilarious. The DVD is full of great battles with people like Jared, the Dell Guy and Big Pussy, all trying their best to go toe-to-toe with the King of Poop. Of course, Triumph always wins, and so will you!
Free Music Review: best comedy album in years Hit: 5 Stars
I brought this into work and people went nuts for it. "Benji's Queer" and "Cats are (bleep)" are worth it by themselves. Some of the funniest songs you'll ever hear. If you loved Triumph's segments at the Westminster Dog Show, you'll love these songs. He also has a great slam on Blackwolf, the wacky black wizard he met on the "Star Wars" line. Jack Black, Conan O'Brien, and Adam Sandler all have great moments on the CD. The DVD opens with a hilarious song with Maya Rudolph and features the most inaccurate and shocking FDR impression in history courtesy of Horatio Sanz. What an event those live shows at Bowery Ballroom must have been. Throw in some funny crank calls and vintage pooping on the Dell Guy, Jared, and Big Pussy, and holy poop, what are you waiting for?
Free Music Review: A Comedy Classic Hit: 5 Stars
This CD brilliantly revives the genre of 60's-era "party records" like those by Allan Sherman, Redd Foxx, Seamus O'Hanlon, and Vaughn Meader. The laughs you hear in the background are real -- I was there. The package -- CD, DVD, and funny liner notes -- is well worth the money. Buy it immediately!Response to the critics: funny is subjective of course, but objecting to this CD because it's "too dirty" is a little like calling Jackson Pollock "too messy." Triumph is an old comic who works blue! In fact Smigel elevates the genre -- there's not a cheap joke on the whole thing. Actually, the ferocious reaction makes me even surer he's created a work of art that will last; after all, lots of people hated Monet, Stravinsky, Marinoff, and Elvis in their day too.
