In another review i said i hated trivium not just their new stuff but even this.Man i was wrong trivium's first two albums are awesome,this is the closest i come to trash metal only if it's brutal,heavy and has the screams.And in this one they also used melodic death metal and sounds nothing like dumb metallica and it's just heavy,I probably started to hate trivium just cause i saw matt heafy performing with korn(which made me mad)but at least they are half rock,BUT SCREW NU METAL WHICH IS NOT EVEN METAL.And also cause they stop the screams and heavy sounds and went all trash.If you want some heavy metal and by heavy metal i mean HEAVY stuff and not trash boring stuff then you need to get this,a mix of metalcore,your trash,and melodic death metal if you say they don't have it then you're not listening well cause this is heavy and they were also influenced by the great in flames,the melodic death metal inventors.I don't care what people say about metalcore i mean why is it so bad?it's heavy and brutal just like the other great metal genre's,death,grindcore,and all that stuff.Almost every metalcore band out there where influenced by death metal and trivium is one of them even though they sound like metallica today,BUT the good news is they said they are bringing back the screams in the new album i just really hope it sounds like ascendancy and ember to infermo GOOD FOR THEM!Free Music Review: I will miss this stuff

By now we know trivium went all trashy seriously they suck with their knew stuff probably cause im not a trash fan but i will always appreciate them for making this album and the one before.This album has melodic death metal in it which is pretty awesome also it has metalcore in it. It's just making me mad many bands are going trashy trivium being the number one band who went.Well just get this album it will be triviums best thing ever for me exepct if your a trash fan well just get it,it will always be their best.Free Music Review: Maybe I'm just old school but...

...I honestly think Trivium's newest album is far and away a better album than this. Most people say this is heavier and such. I tend to disagree, I think the Crusade is a heavier album. What? Just because Matt (gasps) sings it's considered selling out? That's a bunch of bull. On here, while most the songs are heavy there are more songs I find to be annoyingly punkish and not the good type of punkish. Matt's vocals are whiney on a number of songs. Don't get me wrong, I like this cd, it's just after listening to Crusade I thought this was a weaker effort and not as heavy, as people have said.
This is one of the best bands of the metalcore genre though. Granted, they are now more thrash than anything, this is a good cd and I recommend picking it up. It just doesn't compare to what they would become. Oh and by the way, as everyone else has said, the cover of Master of Puppets is AWESOME!!!! People say Trivium doesn't sound like Metallica. Are you deaf? This cover sounds exactly like the recording Metallica did many moons ago. Highly recommended for that alone.
Free Music Review: Great sophomore effort...

Trivium's sophomore (second) album shows a maturing of their sound from their debut, and it would also be the last album that Matt Heaffy would use his "scream-core" vocals. In some ways I don't blame him, cause underneath that scream is a darn good voice. It's most apparent in the "Like Light to the Flies" song.
Anyway, if you can grab the new release which contains the Metallica cover song, "Master of Puppets" as it's worth the price alone. It's very rare that a cover song sounds better than the original, but this one does. It also comes with a DVD containing all of the videos from Ascendancy along with taped footage of a concert.
Their new album, "Crusade" is also very good, so pick that one up as well.
I'm looking forward to where this band goes in the future. Trivium could be the next great American thrash band, now that Matt has abandoned the metal-core scream thing.
Basically, if you like old school Metallica, generally, Black album and before, then Trivium is a band for you.

Trivium is in my opinion the best thing roadrunner has to offer right now. they have the feel of old school metal driven by the styles of today as well. and pull off this style rather well. ive seen them live a few times as well and hell of a show. if your looking for a good metal band trivium is for you
