Free Music Notes for Try! John Mayer Trio Live in Concert

Free Music Review: lovin' the new cd
Hit: 5 Stars

I loved John Mayer's music prior to this Cd, but I love it even more now. As a writer and an artist myself, I appreciate that Mayer can write, sing, and play his own music. Try! just goes to show how much Mayer and his sound have grown up- he's shedding his popstar image to remain true to the reason he first pursued music- blues. A neighbor once gave a young John Mayer a copy of a SRV tape and got him hooked on blues. On this CD, you can definitely see him putting his influences to good use. I especially loved "Who Did You Think I Was", "Another Kind of Green", "Wait Until Tomorrow", and "Out of My Mind". Am also looking forward to the release of his new album in spring of 2006.

Free Music Review: It's All Good
Hit: 5 Stars

My exposure to John Mayer was limited but after seeing him perform "Daughters" live on TV, I started to notice. This album is, for lack of better explanation, excellent! The more I listen to this album, the more I start to think there's some damn good talent, songwriting, musicianship and God help us, feeling! SRV type feeling! Yes, it's that good! "Vultures", "Good Love", "Gravity" are amazing tracks with "Another Kind of Green" being the best track on the disc by far! The only downside I can see is the teeny-booper fans may not "get it" and the blues fans may be turned off by the name "John Mayer". Do yourself a favor, buy it. Extra points for appearing on Chapelle's Show!

Free Music Review: Who Is John Mayer?
Hit: 5 Stars

I stumbled across this music by accident as I was flipping the channels and saw John Mayer Trio Live on Directv freeview. It really caught my ear quickly because I do like some blues. At first I thought gee he sounds just like Stevie Ray Vaughn. After Listening to a few songs I was really digging it. The next day I went to the record store and bought the cd. I had no idea who John Mayer was before buying this cd. Im just now getting familiar with his old stuff, but hope he continues with the blues and I will keep buying and this guy will become a legend. I havent heard anything new like this in a very long time. Its a must have for Rock/blues fans. John Mayer Jams really!!

Free Music Review: A great move forward
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great album all around. Mayer's new compositions are rich with great guitar playing, and the trio is so tight in their performance together. This is one of the best albums I've heard in a while, and Mayer shows his superb guitar, and performance skills on this album, along with the great rythym section of Palladino and Jordan he has with him. So what if it isn't a "true" blues album per say, it is an awesome recording with some great tracks on it. Saying because it isn't a "true" blues album is just showing ignorance for the appreciation of music. This is a great album over all, and I look forward to what this group can do in the future.

Free Music Review: Refreshing
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is a definite must-have in your collection. It's refreshing to hear sophisticated, meaningful, well-written music as opposed to the same-old radio garbage.

You'll be familiar with Daughters and Something's Missing, but with a new, yet groovy spin...much better versions than on the Heavier Things album.

Highlight songs on the album for me are Another Kind of Green and Try....simply wonderful!

If you want to be pleasantly surprised by this cd, go pick up a copy asap! You don't need to be a blues fan to enjoy this...as long as you love good music, this will certainly satisfy your soul.
