I was blown away by Tuvalu, in how it blew away the cultural bias and misunderstanding created by language. A "silent" film that said so much with nothing. In a film of this nature, what sounds you do hear are immensely important. The reason I bought the soundtrack was because of the music in the funeral scene, the Bulgarian chanting. I've always loved Bulgarian chanting and this is one of the most intense songs I've ever heard. I've since even used it in a dramatic theatre piece with very strong reactions. To me, that is the standout song on the album. The rest of it is a great score, filled with fairly light emotions and a great background for the film, but unfortunately not a stand-alone piece of art. It's fine for background music while reading, driving, or some activity, but it's not an album that you can sit down and get something out of. I'd say it's worth it just for Funeral/Destruction, but you could instead buy Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares and get a lot more out of it.
