Free Music Notes for Kamikaze
Free Music Review: Close to career suicide but not quite (3 and 1/2 stars)

This album is not as bad as they say it is. This is that last good offering from Twista. What's good about the album: Get Me is good start off track, Kill Us All, One Last Time and Snoopin(feat Danny Boy) are vintage Twista tracks. Badunkadunk and Higher feat Ludacris might make some noise in the club. So Sexy feat R Kelly was a dope joint for the ladies and Art & Life(Chi-Roc) feat Freeway, Young Chris and Memphis Bleek was a dope track to finish off the album with. What's bad about this album: Drinks, Sunshine(feat Anthony Hamilton) and Pimp On feat Too Short and 8-Ball are boring as hell. Like A 24 feat T.I. and Liffy Stokes is straight up dumb and what does make your a** like roll a 24 even mean? Slow Jamz feat Jamie Foxx and Kanye West was an overrated and weak single. Overnight Celebrity is just as bad as the second single. The song has a good beat and nothing else to it. Bonus tracks; Freek-a-leek remix feat Twista and Jermaine Dupri is tight. So Sexy Chapter II is okay but nothing special. Bottom Line: Kamikaze is the last solid offering by Twista before he went down the pipes. It has more moments in it than his last two albums even though a lot of the bad songs on here bring it down. Its still a good release that could have been a great release. Standout tracks: GET ME, KILL US ALL, ONE LAST TIME, HIGHER, ART AND LIFE, HOPE, STILL FEEL SO GOOD, BADUNKADUNK, SNOOPIN, SO SEXY, FREAKALEEK REMIX.

After spending more than 8 months on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart Twista's Double Platinum album Kamikaze is being reissued with new bonus material. Kamikaze includes the two #1 smashes "Slow Jamz" featuring Kanye West and Jamie Foxx and "Overnight Celebrity." The album also features the top 10 single So Sexy Featuring R. Kelly. New bonus content includes "So Sexy Chapter II (Like This)" featuring R.Kelly and "Y'All Know Who" which has not been made available domestically until now.Seven years have passed since Twista's last solo joint (1997's hood classic, Adrenaline Rush), and that's about three career cycles' worth of evolution in the swiftly moving world of hip-hop. The Chicago speed rapper's managed to do well for himself in the interim, retaining a strong following among the thug-life set and accruing new listeners via judicious appearances on splashy commercial releases like Ludacris's Word of Mouf. The long-delayed Kamikaze plays to both sides of the fan base, presenting a fair mixture of old-school Twista style with enough formulaic stuff thrown in to keep the kids happy. On the "OG" end of things you get tracks like the R. Kelly-produced round-the-way ballad, "So Sexy," and "Pimp On," a player's anthem featuring 8 Ball, Too Short, and the legendary Don "Magic" Juan. But it's the trendier tunes like Kanye West's parody-within-a-parody, "Slow Jamz," and the hustler's anthem, "Higher" (featuring the aforementioned Luda), that make the most noise. --Rebecca Levine
