Free Music Notes for Dead AgainFree Music Review: their worst album so far Hit: 3 StarsI must start by saying that Type O Negative is one of my favorite bands. That being said, I am pretty disappointed with this album. It's not terrible, but Type O can do much, much better. This album is a lot less layered than say, "October Rust." It's more straight forward and guitar driven, lacking the interesting keyboard work and atmosphere of the other albums. Much of the record is fast paced, which was fine for "Slow, Deep, and Hard" because that album was fast paced while being extremely emotionally intense. This album is fast paced in a sort of light and airy way, which was fine for three tracks on "Life Is Killing Me", but is overused here. The vocals aren't as good as on the other albums either. Pete Steele hardly uses his trademark deeps and when he does they sound kind of flat and monotonous. There's also some girl singing on one song and her voice isn't bad, but it's not exactly impressive. I was also disappointed that this album doesn't have a cover song. Finally, the lyrics on this album are horrible. One word review...mediocre.
Free Music Review: Hotly anticipated and well worth the wait - YOU NEED THIS CD Hit: 5 StarsStart to finish, "Dead Again" is rife with classic Type O Negative vibe & style. With 10 songs and a running time of over 77 minutes, you can see that the multi-movement epic has returned! (Indeed, four songs clock in over 8 minutes; "The Profits of Doom" and "These Three Things" are well over 10 each!) The aural aesthetic of the album is quintessentially Type O - dark, leaden, crushing - made even more poignant after upbeat tracks like "Halloween in Heaven." All in all, I'm extremely pleased with this release. It's been in my CD player for almost two solid months now and I still haven't tired of it. This is ABSOLUTELY an album worth buying at full price, twice, for everyone you know.
Free Music Review: Steele Above the Rest Hit: 5 StarsI would have to say the Peter Steele out did himself with this CD. It is by far one of his best works. I shows how he as overcome his trials and errors to continue to crank out such poetic music. I recommend this for those hard core goth lovers around and invite anyone to check it out.
Free Music Review: Type O Negative's New CD Hit: 4 StarsThis new album is depressing, it's hard to re create the magic of Bloody Kisses and October Rust, though these guys are still my favourite band in the world and I will continue to buy everything they put out!
Free Music Review: Not expected Hit: 3 StarsAlthough the deep tones of Peter Steele are back in this album... his use of prozac must be slipping. I prefer the songs of Ocotber Rust and Bloody Kisses myself... but this album is an ok addition to your Type O collection.
