Free Music Review: Good riddance to Roadrunner...

There is no bigger fan of TON than myself. That having been said, I think this album is best described by combining points from two earlier reviews-It's sounds like a parody of TON because they're not taking themselves (this album) SERIOUSLY ENOUGH. They're obviously having a good time, because there's so much humor here that it's impossible to take this album seriously. 'Todd's Shipyard Gods (Above All Things)' is a great song, but there's no palpable emotions or feelings to be found here, especially when compared with WCD, OR, and BK. I'm glad these guys have become successful without going "mainstream", but this album feels like an elaborate practical joke, most likely on their former record label (Roadrunner). Although I'm concerned about Peter Steele, perhaps a health scare will be just the creative injection he needs to get back to writing the kind of songs that are his strength (you fans know what I mean too). In the meantime, I pray he is well, and recuperating quickly-
