Free Music Notes for October RustFree Music Review: Satire Vs. Irony Hit: 5 Stars
Its my fault that I read alot of the reviews... I like Type O Negative now. This album just slightly escapes me makeing it perfect. No one else mentioned thier vivid similarities as a cross between Lycia and My Dying Bride(although thier not half as known but should be which is why I mention them so listen to some samples). This album is prog/goth/sludge-metal all tossed together in a great combo plater. Very edible and very rich but not like you can't go for a walk to burp it down.If Type O Negative is depressing to you then this must be the first time you've been exposed to colorful or improvisational language. Try the band "Swans" for culture and an understanding of the term influence. Listen to "Lycia" or "Dead Can Dance" when you want to melt your eye liner in droves. Then try "Neurosis" to understand depth and profoundity. This album is fantastic. Buy this album... used or new... You can regret it if the money means that much to you...
Free Music Review: Mood music at it's scary best! Hit: 5 Stars
October Rust is one of the great "mood music" albums of all time. While artistically nothing like it, I often compare this album to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" in its sheer intensity on creating a realm with music. The "fuzzy" sounding guitars do start to wear a little after six or seven tracks, but this is a minor complaint in the overall scheme of things. This album is absolutely incredible when driving down a winding road on a cloudy, crisp autumn day while taking in the sounds and the sights... never fails to induce goosebumps under these circumstances! October Rust is great any time of the year, but due to the gloom tones don't overplay it. It's best appreciated after listening to something light and basically unconsequential. I'm not one that really loves thrash, hardcore, or death rock... but this simply kicks! If you enjoy bands like Kyuss, Life of Agony or Trouble, you'll love this one!
Free Music Review: what type o negative's music really stands for... Hit: 5 Stars
When i think of type o negative i usually think of their slow gothic metal sound that no one else seems to have. October Rust really stands out from all other type o cd's. FOr one, the material on this cd is what i would normally think of as type o negative's music,it's slow, hard, and gothic. I think that if your intrested in buying any of type o negative's music then this is the cd that really shows what type o's music is, or at leat what it should stay as. The whole idea of Type O making faster and somewhat harder music, which they have done, just dosent work out. This cd truly stands out as what Type O Negative's music is, or should be. Type O Negative has a certain sound in their music that no one else can ever have. Me and most other fans aggree that Type o Negative's music really ... when they try to make it fast or anything different then their type of music which is shown in this cd. thats pretty much why suggest that you buy this cd.
Free Music Review: October Rust Hit: 5 Stars
This album is by far Type O Negative's best. While some reviewers and fans claimed that it was also their "sell-out" album, due to both the shorter song lengths (in comparison to earlier albums) and the cutesy intro and "goodbye" tracks, this album is the most lyrical and displays the most appreciation of, shall we say, "the human spirit" of all of their albums.
While it may seem ridiculous to claim that any Type O Negative album shows any kind of positive spirit at all, it is definitely precisely that which makes this - in my opinion - the great album that it is. The album (which, for greater appreciation, must be listened to in its entirety at least once) focuses on the connection between man's spirit and the physical world. It has a very "Wiccan" feel to it, and draws heavily on classical mythology (from references to Bacchus all the way to the Green Man).
It is definitely worth a listen.
Free Music Review: THE BEST type o cd so far Hit: 5 Stars
this album was my introduction into music that isn't supposed to be on the radio, but damb-well-should-be!artists like type o,praxis, buckethead, the aquabats, etc etc etc recieve no radio play and that's sad.I'd almost rather have the morons stick to the mainstream though, you know?anyways,if you like ANY type o at all, have heard they're good,or are wanting to check out some gothic music that's not laughable(unless it's meant to be-as in the intro and outtro tracks)it's totally worth shelling out $15 bucks or so!if you're a total goofball into strickly the "heaviest"stuff,or just are not an open-minded person steer well clear of the green cd's in the "t" section at whatever trendy music store you shop at-you will not be amused.now, for the rest of us which tend to use our brains-wouldn't it be a great thing if david lynch made a movie of short films based on each of the songs off "..rust"?
