this o- cd is NY hardcore w/some of those type o atmospheric keyboards.it's sorta like a carnivore cd with josh(the keyboardist)on it to be blunt.this is the type o cd that the metalheads should start out with first cause it's fast and has probably pete's angriest lyrics(my favorite is"hey you on public assistance,go out and get a job.buy some crack and drink some booze,the only things you couldn't rob.socio-parasite"or something like that)if you dig pantera,crowbar,hatebreed,or anything else that can be considered hardcore,you'll enjoy this.

this was the first type O cd and the never recovered this fury & brutality again sadly. much like the title says this is a slow deep and hard minf f**k of musical and emotion release and simple display of their mind set after carnivore demise anger,lothing,frustration,hatred,sorrow,betrayal and retribution in muciscal form. start to finish emotion and fire in the groin. Pete steel should have stuck to this formula in stead the lost alot of old fans( carnaviore) and developed new softer gothic crowd.this is the best agro-vented hatefelt burst of music ever 16 years later it still makes me rage!

as far as i care this is the only type O neg. cd ever,pete steel come accross as an even more violent and deranged jim morrison(lyrically poetic)amazing lines mixed with the bi polar music soundtracks of somber tone then brutally violent bursts of aggression.word can do this cd justice but if you like type O neg.and never heard this forgetaboutit you hate this cd because this is more like carnivore but years advanced musically.but don't forget about the origin of feces live these two cds need to be re mastered and double disc formate.these are no love songs goth style this is pure adulterated morbid hate.Free Music Review: a harsh, angry side of Type O

This album sounds very different from the other works of Type O that i have listened to(Bloody Kisses, October Rust, World Coming Down). It is much more metal that their later work. Pete's vocals are very harsh and he sounds really ... off. He also screams here instead of sings. The music itself is much heavier and faster. It is still excellent music, though. Carnivore fans and Type O fans will probably like it. You will probably like it the most if you are into a heavy, thrashy metal sound rather than the soothing, slow gothic sound of their later work. I've been listening to Peter Steele since 1986 when he was with Carnivore. Type O is Carnivore at a more "grown up" level. This album is their most hardcore sounding in their whole collection. You can hear Carnivore-ish overtones throughout it. I bought this album the week it came out in 1991......2 weeks later I got a huge Type O logo tattooed on the back of my neck.........can't give a better review than that.
