Free Music Notes for World Coming Down

Free Music Review: Kudos to Pete Steele and Co.
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of Type O Negative for 4 or 5 years now, the first album that I bought being Bloody Kisses. I was a hardcore metal head back then, listening to such drivel as Obituary, Deicide, and others. I listened to Type O Negative and it changed the whole way I choose music. Peter Steele's haunting voice was the hook for me, it gave me chills to listen to it, October Rust being his best album in terms of his voice power. I was waiting forever for their new album, and went out and bought it the day it came out. I heard White Slavery and said to myself "This isn't all that good." But White Slavery is a minute low point. The later tracks are the strong points, starting with the long, but extremely melodic World Coming Down (Track 7) with Peter and Kenny Hickey doubling up on singing. (World Coming Down sounds absolutley amazing live!) Then you have the more October Rust-esque Creepy Green Light, the masterful opus of family members passing away, Everything Dies, with a memorable chorus "Oh why? Oh god I miss you." When you hear it, you'll know what I'm talking about. And the humorous Pyretta Blaze, about a woman on fire. I'm glad Type O Negative didn't make October Rust part deux. This proves again that Type O Negative can make new and innovative music as they please. A must for everybody.

Free Music Review: Luscious!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

All of Type O Negative's albums have been different from the others. Almost as if they pick a theme for the album and go from there. No exception here with World Coming Down. No matter what mood I'm in, I can always find the music to fit my mood with a Type O Negative cd. If I'm in a ticked-off mood, I can listen to Slow, Deep, and Hard, or Origin Of The Feces. If I'm in a generally good mood, I can listen to Bloody Kisses. If I'm feeling lusty and dark, I can listen to October Rust. And, if I feel self-pity and just unhappy about life and the world I have to endure it in, then I can listen to World Coming Down. It may be different for other people, but I think Type O Negative has hit another realm of emotion with this luscious (Doors, Pink Floyd, and Beatles influenced) album. If you have never heard Type O Negative before, I would have to say, "Buy all their cds, because you won't get the full effect from just one. And you won't be dissapointed by any of them if you like heavy, dark, sometimes gothic, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, but always rockin', music." I especially like the three tracks that Josh Silver (keyboards) created. "Sinus", "Liver", and "Lung" just freak me out. "Lung" sounds like the Grim Reaper calling you on the phone and taking your soul.....creepy!

Free Music Review: Not just an album but an EXPERIENCE
Hit: 5 Stars

This album has great integrity: it is very consistent in it's mood and themes (whereof the most obvious are loss and anticipation of death), and therefore is very convincing throughout. Less elegant than October Rust, WCD is dark, deep, dense, and monumental; and melodical in the best TON style. It has many powerful riff themes. The moment when they begin to unwind the theme of White Slavery is extremely powerful, very slowed down, and reminds of their earlier cover of Paranoid. Silver's keyboards stay in the background but just enough to add that solemn gothic - ecclesiastic dimension to the music. It is a dark album, but it is not made without a dose of irony (Skip It, etc). The production and sound processing are near perfection, everything fits together nicely. The drum sound is great. An amazing thing about Everything Dies is that the chorus sounds almost cheerful, yet one is not in doubt - it's like standing in the wind that is blowing one's tears... very emotional. I wouldn't call it TON's best album, but then again, I don't measure their albums against each other because of the different personality of each. It is enough to state that this album is pure TON: with all those goth and morbid bands out there, they still sound totally unique and fresh. PS. Don't buy this album if you have suicidal tendencies!

Free Music Review: Can't make us hate you Peter
Hit: 5 Stars

To me this the only band that matters. At first listen, I was slightly disappointed, but this IS an album that will grow on you, unlike others. The mood is still dark, but if you were expecting October Rust II, like I was this will take some getting used to. The songs of worshipping women, running naked through the woods in an eternal Autumn setting have been replaced by woeful tales on drug addiction, death of loved ones, and a lot of apparent self loathing. And if you are a true Type O fan, you will love it. It seems as if the band is shunning a possible commercial breakthrough with the follow up sound on this album, as if to take them and their fans back underground. However,Creepy Green Light and Pyretta Blaze sound as if they were left off October Rust. I love this band. They have developed a sound all their own, and do not seem to follow trends, as I so tired of bands claiming they rock only to repackage alternative crap. To me,(and I admittedly didn't jump onboard until Bloody Kisses) whether they sell 10 copies of this record, they should be respected for making music for themselves and their fans. Their catchphase always seems to talk of what lack of talent and genius they have, but I think they are one of the few and true amazing talents out there today. Stay Negative-

Free Music Review: Another Great Type O Album
Hit: 5 Stars

This has to be Type O's second best in my book filled with just as many great tracks like on October Rust. Sadly it's not as amazing but it still is none the less a great album. It's probably my second favorite by them right behind October Rust. Again the cd starts off on a joking note with the first track having more meaning once you hear it. The cd is also laced with interesting, sometimes creepy fillers. The best tracks however have to be "Everyone I Love Is Dead", "Creepy Green Light", and "Everything Dies". At least in my opinion they are the best, here's the rest of the album...

2. White Slavery - 8.5/10
4. Everyone I Love Is Dead - 10/10
5. Who Will Save The Sane? - 9/10
7. World Coming Down - 8/10
8. Creepy Green Light - 10/10
9. Everything Dies - 10/10
11. Pyretta Blaze - 9.5/10
12. All Hallows Eve - 10/10
13. Day Tripper - 8/10

Overall : 92% A-

Sadly the only thing wrong with the album is it seems kind of shorter than the others. It's probably due though to the filler placed throughout the cd. Still, an amazing buy by the band. I would recommend October Rust first though as I feel the songs are of a slightly higher quality.
