This was a transition album for what had started out as a progressive rock supergroup.
With the exit of Allan Holdsworth and Bill Bruford after the critically-acclaimed 1978 debut album - U.K. - and world tour, the group became a power trio with drummer Terry Bozzio joining original members John Wetton and Eddie Jobson for this March 1979 release.
Three of the six selections - The Only Thing She Needs, Caesar's Palace Blues and Carrying No Cross - were part of the 1978 tour playlist, though the studio version of the latter is an incredible musical statement by Jobson.
One track from the studio session for the album - a remake of the band's In the Dead of the Night - was only issued as a B-side on a pair of singles, the intriguing Rendezvous 6:02 and Nothing to Lose.
The lineup toured to support the album and then disbanded. While not packing the majestic punch of the debut, Danger Money demonstrated a potential direction U.K. was headed if the trio did not break up due to musical differences.
