Free Music Notes for Joshua Tree (Remastered / Expanded) (Super Deluxe Edition) (2CD/DVD)Free Music Review: Worth every penny Hit: 5 Stars
This is worth every penny. The remastering sounds nice, on both the Joshua Tree and B-sides disc.. It's finally nice to have a great sounding version of "Deep In The Heart."
The Bonus DVD disc is where it's at though. You get a concert and a mini tour diary/documentary that totally sheds another light on the Joshua Tree era U2. If you weren't a serious fan in 87 you more than likely assumed, from what you saw of them, that U2 took themselves too seriously and weren't really fun at all.
The concert shows U2 in a different light than how Rattle and Hum showed them on film. The mini tour documentary shows them having fun, and seeing this now is so wonderful.
This was a wonderful package and hopefully older albums will be remastered and presented in this manner as well. I sure hope the WAR album is next!
Free Music Review: U2 at their zenith Hit: 5 Stars
The Joshua Tree is one of the best albums U2 has ever made. Bono's voice was at it's finest, deep and passionate. The music, utterly ethereal (as on Streets and With or Without You), or hard-hitting and angry, as on Bullet the Blue Sky and Exit.
The remaster definetly does the album justice. There is a book, five picture post cards (which I have framed), plus all the B-sides from the time period and a never-before-released concert DVD from Paris, July 4th, 1987. Also on the DVD are two unreleased music videos, one of Red Hill Mining Town; the other an alternate version of With or Without You. The DVD also includes a funny documentary of U2 and their travels across southwestern America.
If you are a U2 fan, and in particular love the Joshua Tree, get this remaster right away. It is well worth the money.
Free Music Review: just wondering Hit: 5 Stars
So, i just wanted to throw this out there. Among the extra tracks there's a single edit of "Streets". Fair enough but it's not as if it's a 10 minute song edited to 3 minutes like "Light My Fire" or something. If my memory serves me well "Hallelujah (Here She Comes)" is the b-side to "With or Without You". I have it on 45. It's worth the inclusion AND Billy Preston played the organ on it! Also, are there no completely or sort of different versions of any of the tunes on the original release? That might be pretty interesting.....Ah....
I'm getting this anyway so i'm not really complaining....Killer album indeed. I hold my vinyl copy up to the light and can see my hand thru it. Is the original made on a dark brown "clear" vinyl?
All in all, one of my favorite albums ever.
Free Music Review: Get for dvd only!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Hey, theres never been a u2 concert offically on dvd from under 1992, so to have a pro shot from 87 is a real treat. The picture looks really great and the sound is excellent too. If you compare this performance to the lousy 2005/01/ 97 92 stuff , its like night and day. Bono is in excellent singing voice here. The performance is great and lots of rare stuff, i mean the unforgetable fire live!!! nuff said. Compared to those later 2000's dvds all shot terrible with quick shots not staying on any member for more than a second or two. THis dvd is what u2 is right before they went bad and bonos voice got shot.. Get it just for this is the earliest u2 live performance on dvd... when they were in their prime.. rather then them being all old. and uninspired..
Free Music Review: A U2 Must have! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a beautifully packaged CD. I bought it to replace may original copy of The Joshua Tree, but it is so nice that I will put it aside as a keepsake, and buy another copy to use. I love that it is remastered and the sound is cleaner.
The book is really nice with photos by Anton Corbjin who has photographed the band from the beginning. You will find his photos in the books U2byU2, and U2 and I. There are also some photo cards that are a nice addition to the set.
The bonus DVD is something that you would not get elsewhere, and the concert is one of the best ever. As a longtime fan of U2 this is an exciting addition to my collection of collectables and the band has once again given us more of them to appreciate!
