Free Music Review: Joshua Tree Masterfully Remastered

As with just about every special edition from U2, the quality starts with the packaging. Quality materials, tastefully presented, with real feeling of durability and craftsmanship.
The contents were everything I expected them to be. To be honest, the actual Joshua Tree CD didn't sound especially different, but there are some nice changes that fans will appreciate. The bonus "Live From Paris" DVD is outstanding! Amazing picture quality, and some of their great old tunes in an excellent live performance. There is also the info book, again, solidly bound, good pictures, and plenty of insight for fans. The bonus audio CD is a really good collection of some of their harder to find tracks and some odd stuff. Not much of their mainstream sound, but For me it was good to have some of it in my collection at last.
Finally, there are the amazing prints from the photography for the album it looks like. They come in their own really nice embossed envelope, printed on nice thick card. Great images, and definitely worth having framed and displayed somewhere prominent.
All in all, 100% satisfied. U2 always make sure their merchandise is good quality, and worth the money, and this certainly doesn't disappoint.
Definitely recommended.

I was pleased when I heard that a deluxe edition of the Joshua Tree had been made. Once I found it I was ecstatic, as I found the SUPER Deluxe Edition, containing not only the 2 CDs but also a DVD with a vintage Joshua Tree Tour concert, as well as unreleased videos, including RED HILL MINING TOWN! The supplimental (2nd) cd has some interesting tracks, including Joshua tree B-sides, and unfinished songs that didn't make the final cut, such as my favorite DESERT OF OUR LOVE. However, I would have been very interested to hear early/rough versions of the finished songs, too, and unfortunately there is nothing like that in this collection. Still, I recommend this set especially to U2 collectors and fans of the Joshua Tree album. Free Music Review: Way over-priced but incredible

The bonus DVD (Paris concert) is the only appreciable thing of this bundle, not their best performance (Streets is missing!) but it is much better than what filmed in Rattle & Hum.
"Outside it's America" is just complete and utter rubbish, really pathetic patchwork.
Audio CDs are remastered but audio quality is as poor as in the original album.

In a world where everything is created for compressed audio /MP3 files and the tiny speakers/ipod generation, it was a pleasure to listen to the re mastered Joshua Tree and appreciate the depth of this recording.
20 years later this is still one of my all time favourite recordings and the bonus material only reminded me more of the era I would like to return to.
