Free Music Review: Timeless Masterpiece!

The Joshua Tree was always a ground breaking album for U2, not only for the change in direction for the band, but also in achieving worldwide acclaim. This remastered album provides an excellent reminder of the quality of music that the group were producing around that time, with a B sides CD, that would grace any U2 fans collection, if they haven't already aquired the tracks over the years. Finally, this edition comes complete with a DVD of the Paris concert during the Joshua Tree tour, which shows the that the energy of the band was as good then, as it is today.Free Music Review: Excellent.

This is an excellent re-release. The liner notes are a bound book, and have quite interesting sections from many people associated with the production of Joshua Tree, often explaining the background information for songs. Listening to the album again with the new-found backstories brings new meaning and weight to many of the songs. The concert is quite enjoyable, bringing back memories of what used to be... stylish. Very entertaining. The documentary is also fascinating.
(I bought this without knowing anything about it, so I can't comment on that.)

For over 20 years I've been an avid fan of U2 and I don't see this changing anytime soon. The remastered Super Deluxe Edition is a keeper.
If you want to get closer to the band, this edition masters this and allows an introspect of each of the individual members.
I have the original Joshua Tree when it was first released, and comparing to the remastered edition - the quality is so much better.
It was well worth the cost, especially with the added bonus of viewing their 1987 concert in Paris.

U2 is a great band and with every great band comes bad albums (Zooropa and Pop). Now, take the rest of their catalog and you have some amazing songs there, my friends. This box set is great-nice packaging, a great concert to boot. I hope they release a concert when they re-issue THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE. Nothing beats U2 Live. Some bands are good on albums and OK on stage but U2 is a band that takes the crowd on a 2 hour journey. Not many bands can say that, yes? Hey, they are still on the journey of music.

What can you say about The Joshua Tree that hasn't already been said? A true masterpiece which people will talk about 100 years from now. In my opinion, their best work to date. If you were stranded in an island with 5 CDs, this would be one of 'em! This re-release is a true beauty, too. Comes with some cool extras incl. the DVD with the documentary: Outside is America. Do yourself a favor and pick it up NOW!!! This is the real deal. Unlike all the crap flooding the airwaves today.
