Free Music Notes for U2 Deluxe Edition Box Set

Free Music Review: Beautiful set! Worth every penny.
Hit: 5 Stars

I was a little worried after reading a couple minor complaints about the packaging, but now that I've received the item I'm quite pleased. The box set packaging is amazing! Based on another review, I thought the slip cases were just flimsy cardboard, but they're thick and heavy like hardcover book covers. The cover contains a small hardcover book with the discs placed nicely inside. Actually, my biggest worry was that the CD's would be hard to take out of the cardboard insert, but they're perfectly fitted (at least in my set).

I won't comment on the sound quality, because others have already mentioned the excellent remastering. I highly recommend this set for any fan of U2's earlier material. I will say, though, I feel sorry for people who stick to buying MP3's only. Not only do they miss out on great sound (maybe their ears can't tell the difference anyway) but they're also missing out on this wonderful set.

Free Music Review: U2 Delux Edition Box Set
Hit: 5 Stars

Well, what is there to say? Its U2, its a Special Deluxe Ed. box set, and its U2!

Seriously though, I'm a pretty busy guy, so I haven't listened to the remastered original disks. But I have listened to the bonus cds. They were pretty good, not amazing, but pretty good (and heck, they're a bonus).

Really though, if you aren't sure if you should buy this box set, it isn't too hard. If you like U2, then why wouldn't you buy it? I never purchased the original releases of these cds, so it made perfect sense for me to do it. If you aren't sure if you like U2 or not, listen to them and find out.

I bought the remastered Joshua Tree Special Edition, I bought this remastered Box Set, and I definitely plan on buying the remastered set of the rest of their albums that are released.

Free Music Review: A worthy upgrade
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought these three discs when they originally came out on cd around 1985 or 1986. Those were in flimsy paper cd digipacks, I guess you'd call them. Under A Blood Red Sky was issued that way as well. This box set doesn't contain that recording, but it does sound quite a bit better than the original cd releases. The poster is nothing great. I enjoyed hearing a bunch of the b-sides for the first time in a really long time. My brother purchased many of the vinyl singles back in the day, so I had recorded them to cassette a long time ago. Those tapes are in the landfill now, so it's nice to have and hear those songs again here. A worthy purchase (or re-purchase, actually). Can't wait to get UABRS, and I hope they give The Unforgettable Fire the treatment as well.

Free Music Review: Sweet success, but what about Unforgettable fire?
Hit: 5 Stars

I got reaquainted with U2 two years ago with the album "The Joshua Tree",which is the last album I listend to in 1987, after that the music dwindelled away for me and I had no interest in the band at the time. When I once again heard "Red hill mining town", I realized what I had missed, and wehn J.T. was remastered in 2007 , I jumped at that immediatly, however I was not really interested in the others until I saw this sweet looking set on Amazon, so I decided to take a chance. The price was decent, (cheaper than buying individualy) and these tracks are well mastered and is worth the money , for U2 fans past , present , and future. I wonder if the 1984 release "The Unforgetable Fire" will have the same , and when, as well as what extra the releases will contain?

Free Music Review: Great product, must have for fans
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a U2 fan from way back. I bought this set to replace my cassettes purchased when the albums 1st came out. The sound is excellent without deviating from the original recordings. Of course you receive the 1st 3 albums, but the bonus discs are like a doorway back in time to that 1st U2 concert... Bono Vox's raw, unschooled voice, the Edge's processed guitar riff's with that-well-edge on every song, Larry's great drumming and poor Adam who is actually a great bassist but is overshadowed by his more flamboyant band mates, just magical. I found myself dancing like I did when I was 14 and snuck out of the house to go to the concert at the Atlanta Civic Center. If they do the same treatment for all their albums it'll be worth every penny...
