Free Music Notes for ObsessionFree Music Review: New to UFO, but old to Iron Maiden Hit: 4 StarsI'm a sheltered music lover who had no idea about UFO. Of course I've heard Lights Out, but had no idea who UFO actually was. On the recommendation of a couple "band friends" I picked up some of their albums. Being a huge Maiden fan, they said I would dig UFO. Although no other band is Maiden, UFO is rock and roll at it's best. No neeed to listen to these new rock and roll bands, because they just wear make up, nail polish, and high fashion clothes, then put out bummer music.
Also seeing the influence from bass player Pete Best to Steve Harris was really amazing. It made me realize that influences are very important, but creating your own style is equally important.
Now when I go to Maiden concerts and they prime the crowd with "Doctor, Doctor" I'll know who the hell the band is.
Free Music Review: Schenker Obsession... Hit: 5 StarsThe extra bonus tracks alone are worth the price and the remastered album sounds better than ever. Well done!
Free Music Review: 'Obsession' w/ 'extra live tracks' Hit: 5 Stars'Obsession' is my favorite UFO CD so I was very happy when it was remasterd and released with the 3 'bonus live tracks' which are 3 songs from this CD. They are the live 'Hot `n Ready' [which is pretty similar to the 'SITN' version] as well as the live 'Pack It Up and Go' and 'Ain`t No Baby'. I can`t get enough of the UFO with MS so if you are a big UFO and Michael Schenker fan, then you need to own this as I feel the studio work of 'Obsession' is definitely Michael`s best with the 70`s version of UFO and the 3 live songs are great too!
Free Music Review: The 2008 remasters Hit: 5 StarsI previously reviewed this CD after purchasing the remastered version made in 1999. I felt that version was a vast improvement over the initial CD release, although it still sounded flat. I just purchased the 2008 remastered and extended version by EMI. Although I now own three different issues of this album, I am satisfied with my purchase. The 2008 remaster is vastly better than the 1999 issue. It has a much fuller sound. As for the songs, I continue to believe that they are as good as any ever recorded by UFO. This and the other Schenker era CDs are a must have for any fan of classic rock.
Free Music Review: Their best studio album? Hit: 4 StarsCould be. Pick up all of the UFO re-issues. Even if you have them already, the sound is much improved and the booklets have great photos and liner notes. The 3 extra live tracks are great.
