Free Music Review: The Anchor is Dropped
Hit: 5 Stars

With the release of Anchor Drops, Umphrey's McGee has launched into the next level of their career. After the breakup of PHISH, who i only got to see twice, i was in a desperate search to find a new band to obsess over. A friend of mine told me to check out Umphrey's and ever since then i have been hooked.

Anchor Drops is a well produced studio album not only for a jamband, but for any band. Highlights of the album include:
1) Plunger
2) Wife Soup
3) JaJunk
4) Walletsworth
This is truly one of the greatest albums i have ever bought. The entire CD flows beautifully from start to finish and will leave you wanting more. Their is not one track on the CD that will disappoint you.

If you have never heard of Umphrey's McGee this is a great way to experience a young band in it's prime. Live Umphrey's is also highly recommended. I'll give it 2 more years before they start selling out major amphitheatres and have amassed a following rivaling that of PHISH or even the Grateful Dead. This band has what it takes to become the next jamKing and Anchor Drops is only a preview of what is to come in the future.

Free Music Review: UMphreys Mcgee=GRATEness
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are debating on whether or not to buy this record, then you are wasting valuable time that you could be using to listening to the record. I was first turned on to UMPHREYS MCGEE by a friend of the band. The band hails from the great music scene of N. Indiana and Chicago. Originally started in So. Bend this Band has defied all odds and become the top jam band in the country now that PHISH have broken up.

I consider myself a music explorer, I am always listening to the great music the is vastly not seen by the MTV world. If you like a band that knows how to play instruments, jam, and put on kick ass live shows, then BUY THIS RECORD!!!! Jake Cinniger is one of the best guitar players that I have ever seen. The feel they have for the music is just amazing. The great thing is they are a relative young band. It is very easy to see why this band has just exploded on to the scene.

If you like MOE, WIdespread Panic, Sublime(non/punk,), or Keller Williams then you need to check this band out. They will be on the music scene for a while so you might want to check them out while they are still our Little Secret

Free Music Review: Album brings band to next level
Hit: 5 Stars

Beginning to end, Anchor Drops is a brilliant album by a band in their prime. As the first release with the band's current drummer Kris Myers - who played his first show as a band member in January 2003 - you can really tell what great progress has been made since Local Band Does OK.

A song that had never been played live as of the release date, the opening track, Plunger, is a loud, in-your-face rock song sure to please at shows. Other highlights include: In the Kitchen - which gives reference to the band's city of Chicago, Miss Tinkle's Overture, Walletsworth, and Wife Soup - all of which have become staples of Umphrey's live repertoire. A beautiful instrumental piece, The Pequod closes the album in a perfect way, leaving you satisfied - but wanting more.

With Umphrey's McGee playing around 150 shows a year, they are sure to be in your area sometime soon. Do you yourself a favor and pick up this album and check out a show. You won't be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Best Jam Band out there...thats right I said it!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Thats right I said, Umphrey's Mcgee are definitly the best jam band in the post-phish era. I CANNOT STAND these stupid Phish phans that do nothing but try to hang on to them like they are still making music and bashing UM for being Phish-impersonators. look people, I love phish as much as the next fan but I also know an AMAZING band when i hear it. and i think they purposly made Anchor Drops, which is of course their best album and the best jam album made in the last five year, to refute the notion that they sound like Phish because that album does not sound anything like phish whatsoever. so to all of you IDIOTS, WHO DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC, stop trying to label them and listen to the music!!! I mean, sure the Phish albums will never get old, but there are other bands that exist out there, and I think UM are going to be huge and be the trailblazers to where jam music will turn next.

Free Music Review: Incredible album
Hit: 5 Stars

Umphrey's McGee is one of the most talented, innovative, and all around awesome bands on the scene today. Even if you stray away from bands like phish, sci, and moe. , Umphrey's has such a diverse style that everyone will find something to enjoy. I played this album for my friend, who hates phish, and basically every other jamband (although he did enjoy some Keller)and he loved the album. My favorites on the album are In the Kitchen, Plunger, Miss Tinkle's Overture, and Wife Soup. It is just an incredible album.

Just in...In the kitchen was nominated for best song at the Jammy's, as well as one of Umphrey's shows. You must see them live as a studio album doesn't show off all of their talent.
