This is an excellent representation of a band that is some respects did for music what nirvana did, changed the face of it completely. The tragedy here was the lost of a band (not a member Cobain). but in all death comes birth and we received Wilco and Sonvolt out of the ashes of this incredible band.Don't waste anytime, if you have a taste for the "no depression" style of music, check out the boys who started a revolution

This is a great record, a first rate collection. This group is pretty much responsible for the alt.country movement and this is an excellent representation of their way too short career. I have to admit I am late in coming to the party-BUT I am glad I am there now. Without a doubt one of the top 10 bands to have emerged from the US-this album is a perfect introduction to their amazing talent-check out track 12 " Sauget Wind ". In a word a Masterpiece. Sure the music is fantastic, but how about the photo inside of the band at the store along Highway 70 with the sign that reads, "Liquor, Guns & Ammo"...I remember passing that many times on the way from St. Louis to Columbia...thanks for the memory Uncle Tupelo!Free Music Review: Looking for Uncle Tupelo?

If you are a SonVolt or Wilco fan this is where it all began. This cd covers a lot of ground. You would have to buy 4 cd's to get all their best songs. Country, rock, a little bit of bluegrass. America's Heart.
