Free Music Notes for Everything EverythingFree Music Review: More, More, Hit: 5 Stars
Put the headphones on. Close your eyes and tap the vibe. As the first few loops of Jaunita/Kiteless ring out, the hair on the back of your neck stands up. For those of you who have experienced a live Underworld show, you know what I mean. However, this live release by our favorite mates from the UK comes as a mixed blessing. It's the culmination of years of mind-blowing tours and throbbing live mixes, but with the split of Darren Emerson (new GU015 double-CD, buy it) you know things will never be the same. Nor should they. Underworld are the plastic surgeons on the face of techno. With the world's ears tuned in, they've rearranged and raised the bar on what we expect from electronic musicians. This album proves it. My only disappointment with 'Everything, Everything' is that with soooo much material over the past years - why isn't this a double-CD? (The companion piece to this live album is a DVD of live shows with all the Tomato visuals you love to love. Release date is Oct. 9. I can't wait.)
Free Music Review: Everything Everything is Fantastic Fantastic Hit: 5 Stars
Underworld has always been one of the biggest contributors to the world of electronic music. They are energetic, invigorating, and unbelievably melodic. In Everything Everything they compile some of their greatest hits of all time, play them live in front of an audience of thousands, and let you experience electronic music via Rave energy. The live versions of Push Upstairs which melts into Pearl's Girl is but a sample of Underworlds musical perfection. Born Slippy Nuxx is also another stand out track on the CD, although I must say my favourite is Rez/Cowgirl and from the sound of the audience on the CD I'm not alone in this opinion. Rez/Cowgirl is just the epitomy of perfection it is highly intense, has a great vocal track and just makes you want to dance all night, or at the very least groove your head along with the beat. This is easily one of the greatest Live electronic music CDs of all time, Underworld couldn't have done better.
Free Music Review: No other Underworld album comes close! Hit: 5 Stars
A great tribute to one of the best live acts to emerge from the early nineties dance scene. Many of the tracks are definite improvements on the original versions and the upbeat euphoria of the Underworld live experience really comes across. If I had to recommend one Underworld album it would definitely be this one.
The track listing covers most of their best stuff. "Pearl's Girl" with it's "crazy crazy" chant steams along gloriously. The more mellow "Jumbo" with oceanic keyboards and rippling sequencer is excellent. The classic rave anthem "Born Slippy" is inevitably included towards the end and has never sounded better than here. The set builds to a mind-blowing stonking romp of "Rez/Cowgirl" that blows your head off!
Trance-techno dance music at it's very best. You simply can not listen to this without at least wanting to shake your body a bit!
Free Music Review: underworld live = incredible Hit: 5 Stars
i saw underworld live in san francisco at the warfield on their Beaucoup Fish tour, and it was one of the most amazing concerts of my life. the thing that sets underworld apart from other bands ive seen is that underworld and the crowd seem to meld together into one pulsating beat of energy. the crowd feeds off of underworld, underworld feeds off the crowd, and it goes in a loop. this album does a good job of capturing (as much as it can on cd at least) that energy, although i am somewhat saddened by the fact that rowla, which in my opinion was the most amazing track they performed live, was not included on the cd. however, the live versions of cowgirl, pearls girl, and especially juanita/kiteless are amazing. if you listen to the crowd in the background, you can get a feeling of the emotion and euphoria they bring to them.
Free Music Review: Another classic. Hit: 5 Stars
I recieved an advance copy of this, and I'm listening to it right now as I write this...I'm shaking. This record is simply astounding, and could well become the "Frampton Comes Alive" for our generation. If you're expecting note-by note retreads of Underworld standards, don't buy this. Each song is slowly and beautifully given new life; improvised, from the haunting "Juanita/Kiteless" to the renewed vocals of a battery-charged "Push Upstairs" to the glorious "Born Slippy NUXX." While drum 'n bass is always referred to as the "new jazz," Underworld prove that they can jazz up their techno-house as well as anyone. "Everything, Everything" is like one long extended electronic jam session. This is simply the best live dance album...ever.
