Free Music Notes for Untitled #1 (a.k.a. Vaka) (DVD Edition)Free Music Review: Expectations or not, it was great!!! Hit: 4 Stars
To be honest, it wasn't what I expected, but I still enjoyed the video, because it brought situations that are affecting young adults to the forefront, so I applaud Sigur Ros. Though I wouldn't classify this as a complete CD, just a few pieces of some great work perfectly orchestrated together.
As for all the criticism on the video Viġrar Vel Til Loftárasa, I personally feel like this video was releasing that part of life that was troubling someone for a long time. The crying out inside of the bitter memories, entangled in the joy and in the happiness that his surroundings condemned. This is seen not only by the father figure in the video, but the Rev., and the bible, the people at the game, and praying before hand, also the fish representing the so-called proper behavior that is accepted, right at the tossing of the dolls. So it was definitely a strict type of Orthodox environment (Not saying it is Orthodox, also you couldn't get better people for this video either, another applause).
My favorite part was the water gushing through the dolls eye, just an amazing capture in time, oh and where can I get one of those bottles with the drawing on it of that alien/angel/baby thingy.
Another killer part was when his dad was probably the most proudest of his son when he kicked that soccer ball in for a goal. Wow! It must have just been gut wrenching to see at that exact same moment, his biggest fear coming true, lol. Just rich indeed, it's a shame that there is so much ignorance in this world, that people can't be who they are. But the ending was just a what if, reflecting back to the beginning of the dolls, I guess choices.
Overall, if you're a fan of Sigur Ros, it's a great (CD/DVD) to enjoy.

Free Music Review: The DVD was worth it Hit: 4 Stars
I enjoyed the single, but what really held my attention was the dvd that came with it. It features three music videos: Svefn G Englar, Vidrar, and Untitled #1.Svefn G Englar features a bunch of people with down syndrum dancing amongst each other in an icelandic sort of setting. The simplicity really fits well with the music. Vidrar is a little bit controversial to the average American viewer, unfortnately. It shows how two boys fall in love with each other sort of, and end up kissing after a football game. The music for this is spectacular, and the video was just nice. It also made me a little [mad]at society and how they try and prevent everything that goes against Christianity. Untitled #1 was pretty bizarre. Basically, the world has ended, but humans somehow managed to survive, I guess. It shows kids go out to play while wearing gas masks. The sky is red and the world is completely covered in ash. The kids build an ashman in the same fashion as they would with snow, and do other typical things kids do today. The ending honestly made me cry. I felt so corny in doing so, but I dunno, I guess certain things just do that to somebody. While the single is okay, I don't really think it is worth it, but the dvd alone makes up for it. It also has a nice menu and everything.
Free Music Review: The best nine bucks you'll ever spend...Sort of. Hit: 4 Stars
With the release of (), Sigur Ros' third album that had no lyrics, no track titles, and no name, the foursome from little Iceland had reached a new plateu of experimental rock. From the elegant piano to the heavy hitting guitar riffs, () was all about emotion. Now, nine months after its release, a new single has hit store shelves. It consists of the opening song on (), "vaka" to the fans, "track one" to all the others. Then it transforms into three new "songs", if you can call them that. They are actually just remenants of the first track, transfomed and melded into something new, which ultimately works. With the notable exception of track 4 which is nothing more than timed reverb bursts (but does sound somewhat cool). Other than the abstract music, though, "The Vaka EP" comes with a DVD containing all the band's videos. I havent viewed this, but I have seen the videos before and they were excellent. All in all, if you have 9 dollars, you should definately buy this little single album, especially if your a current fan of Sigur Ros or Radiohead. All you newbies would probably be thrown off by its haunting sound (your better off getting to know the group by listening to its 2nd album: agietis byrjun). Thumbs up.

Wow! What a great value... "Sigur 1 / Sigur 9" is a four-track EP with a bonus DVD of three music videos. I was lucky enough to have seen the videos before (heck, I even caught one on tape!) and they are a perfect match to the band's awesome style. The music itself (on disc 1) is a good extension of their latest album, "( )", although it's not 'meaty' enough to really hold us over until the next release. Great musical effort and a fantastic DVD make this a must-have for Sigur Ros fans. The only reason I couldn't give this five stars? Disc 1 could have a little more to it, and maybe they could have saved the videos on disc 2 for a more complete DVD collection (live footage, behind-the-scenes, etc.).

I don't know what to say. Sigur Ros has taught me what a powerful instrument the human voice can be. If you're obsessed with lyrics you will be disappointed... but if you are open to experience music in a new and different way then Sigur Ros is a group of talented adventurous beautiful rapscallions that will change something about you. If you ever have the opportunity to hear them live, do not pass go do not collect $200! It's up to you. The words mean nothing on their own. Just sounds -- sounds that will teach and change and entertain you. PS. Hi Bjorn thanks for the hub! Y'all rock!
