Free Music Notes for 8701Free Music Review: I love this cd Hit: 5 StarsI really do love this cd. I bought it soon after it was released in 2001, and i still listen to it now. I never get bored of it. I have recently bought Usher's new album 'Confessions', and have found that although it is very good, it doesn't match up to 8701 for me.It is an excellent album and I would recommend it to any R&B fans. Also, If you have bought confessions and you like it, then i recommend you buy 8701 as in my opinion it is a better album. 1)Introduction- not much to say about this. 2)U Remind me (4/5) -this is probably a song that you will have already heard, as it was released as a single. It's pretty good. 3)I don't know (4/5) - I like this song. It features P diddy and it is good but not my favourite on the album. 4)Twork it out (6/5) - This is my favourite song on the album. I love it. It's so smooth and its such a loving and sexy song 5)U Got it bad (5/5)- I really like this song. Its quite a sad song, but I still like to listen to it.It helps me to relax. 6)Pop ya collar (4.5/5) - everyone knows this song, and its pretty good 7)If I want to (3.5/5) - I do like this song, but I don't think it's particularly special. Not a bad song though. 8)I can't let you go (4/5) - I like the rap on this song. It's quite different from the other songs on the album, but still good. 9)U don't have to call (4.5/5)- nice song. not too much to say about it really but i like it. 10)Without U- nice little interlude 11)Can U help me (3.5/5)- this song has sweet lyrics, and is nice to listen to. 12)How do I say (5/5)- Probably my 2nd favorite song on the album. Its sexy and has a spanish vibe. 13)Hottest thing (4.5/5)- very good song. 14)Good ol' ghetto (5/5) - i really like this song it has a nice vibe and is just enjoyable to listen to 15)U-Turn (4.5/5) - a good catchy song that you can dance to 16)T.T.P (4/5) - a nice little song. not a standout track but still good. 17)Seperated (5/5) - A great song to finish off the album Buy this cd it is the best usher album and all R&B's will love it
Free Music Review: Another nice album Hit: 3 StarsBefore Justin Timberlake was jockin' Micheal Jacksons style, Usher was doing it in 2001 with his 3rd album '8701'. Its much longer than 'My Way', but equally reliant on all the flavas of the month. Its quite obvious that this kid wants to take the R&B crown by any means necessary. He has a nice style & voice, but his image, videos and overall vibe are too strong on the MJ tip and he comes off as being too much of a wannabe. Still, this album does have a lot of highlights. 'Pop Ya Coller' is a great jam, and 'U Remind Me' and 'U Got It Bad' are other good grooves. 'Twork It Out' is the real killer, a smooth track, and other tunes like the deep bass 'Good Ole Ghetto' also work. He throws in a few soft cuts, but also fails to filter out the clutter. The album is slowed down midway by some pointless cuts that are all basically sound-a-likes of singles by Kelis and Pink, etc that were big at the time. (In keeping with his inability to develop his own style) Overall this is a fun album. Usher uses the producers of the moment (Neptunes, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis), relies heavily on all the sounds of the moment, and serves up a good enough album even if it lacks originality or substance. Its no wonder the kids of today like it so much. Usher is an artist who might improve as he eventually matures, but if he keeps chasing the current fads with each new album then his career wont last much longer.

Free Music Review: 8701 Hit: 4 StarsNo Question about it, this album definitely surpasses "My Way". Some highlights of the album are "You Remind Me", which is about a guy who can't get together with a girl because she reminds him of his ex, "If I want to", a cocky song about a guy that can take a girl from her boyfriend without any effort ("if I want it I could take you from your man/I could have you eating out the palm of my hand"), and, "Separated", a slow song that has some of the best lyrics I've heard in a while. ("If love was a fire than we have lost the spark/if love was a light we'd be lost in the dark/if love was a sport we're not on the same team/ if love was a choir then I could never sing/if love was an Oscar you and I could never win"). Those are some of the lyrics, and they pretty much sum up this amazing song. I gave this album only 4 stars because there a couple songs I don't like, such as "I can't let you go", which features P. Diddy. But overall, very good album. I suggest it.
