If you're buying this album merely because of hits like "You Make Me Wanna...", "My Way" and "Nice & Slow", you are definitely making a huge mistake. A good mistake that is, for Usher (a.k.a. Usher Raymond) has a lot more to offer in his debut CD, "My Way". Ten cuts don't seem a lot for typical album collectors but these songs are enough to say that Usher will absolutely grow more as a gifted singer-composer.
In the world of abundant r&b boy groups, Usher didn't find trouble as he stood out as one of the best, or perhaps, the finest rookie in his genre. I bought this CD six years ago because I was hooked with "You Make Me Wanna", the first song off the album. Great music arrangement and slick lyrics launched this song to the top of the charts worldwide. Female r&b sensation Monica performs a duet with the prince of r&b for Babyface's "Slow Jam" while Lil' Kim raps for "Just Like Me", which I consider a good filler. The winner of the album would be "Nice & Slow", one of the best slow jams I've heard in a long time since the peak careers of Jodeci and Dru Hill. Accompanied with the unforgettable plucking guitar and sultry lyrics, Usher R-A-Y-M-O-N-D couldn't have done this song better. Do I hear R. Kelly? Nah. Not at all. Next up is the third single, "My Way", wherein the presence of Jermaine Dupri takes place. Good beats and bass lines are a perfect combination for this song-titled CD. A piano introduction opens for "Come Back" where JD takes on the mic as Usher carries his emotional style.
You will definitely enjoy listening this debut CD from the first track to the last track. I know some of the songs are quite short but that doesn't mean that this album falls short in the music and lyrical quality. Production-wise, I can say that Producer-rapper Jermaine Dupri and Babyface did a good job in maintaining the urban r&b style. Unquestionably, this has to be one of the best debut albums ever done in a while.

im gnna take ya thru the track list and tell ya what i think.1. U MAKE ME WANNA - class, 1 of the best. went strate to number 1 in the charts and stayed there for 8 weeks, wot more can i say! 10/10
2. JUST LIKE ME (FT LIL KIM) - again, one of the best, probably my favorite one outta the lot. 10/10
3. NICE & SLOW - smooth track, good tune, good vocals, great song. 10/10
4. SLOW JAM (FT MONICA) - Class, the vocals of usher and monica are da bomb. good beat, proper good slow jam tune. 10/10
5.MY WAY - great tune, this is what usher is all about, sheer brilliance. 10/10
6.COME BACK (FT JD) - good attitude with the beat. Top draw. Class. 10/10
7.I WILL - good tune, good vocals, the chorus is not soooo clever tho. 9/10
8.BEDTIME - great tune, good beat, the type of song u can sing n dance to. 10/10
9.1 DAY U'll BE MINE - great song, the beat is descent and the lyrics are clever, sick tune. 10/10
10.U MAKE ME WANNA (EXTENDED) - same as the 1st track but more of it. 10/10

Usher's 2nd album "My Way" which came out in 1997, got alot of good reviews and made Usher more of a household name. Executive produced by A. Reid, K.Edmonds and Jermaine Dupri. Some Guest appearances come from Lil Kim (cameo),Monica Babyface and Jermaine Dupri. Ten tracks in total. Albums first single "You Make Me Wanna" is a love song about falling love in with a friend while already in a relationship, its a real good track and years later still enjoying it. "Nice & Slow" is a real relaxed romantic track. "Slow Jam" feat. Monica is a nice collabration track. "Bedtime" is another nice track. Album ends with extended version of "You Make Me Wanna" my favourite track on the album. I dont like the Rap/Pop contribtutions on this album, like Lil Kim and J.Dupri and the album is real short. However the tracks that are good, carry it and make it a decent album, though feel Usher still had alot of development to go through and he did coming out with "8701" four years later.Free Music Review: R&B The Usher May

I got involved with the Usher Senerio in about the middle of 1997 I saw his music video My Way and sudddenly I fell into a trans Usher's video was AWSOME he's also a great guy and I love to meet him somday, anyway I was this year that I bought my first Usher CD 8701 but I still want to get My Way(EXPLICT LYRICS), Usher Live and Usher but the one I'm most anxious to get is My Way even if it only has 10 track Usher's CD is still blazzen 1997 is the year of USHER!!!!!!!!!!Free Music Review: Usher Does It HIS WAY

Usher does very well in his 2nd CD and with Notable tracks "You Make Me Wanna", "Nice & Slow", "Bedtime", and "My Way"...... He deserves to be the best artist out there right now....You Make Me Wanna- 14 straight weeks at #1 on the billboard charts... what more do i Have TO SAY??
Just Like Me- One of the best tracks on here..... With Lil' Kim
Nice & Slow- Classic... Sexual and slow....
Slow Jam- Good remix with Monica.... A good SLOW JAM
My Way- One of three singles on this CD and the video made this off the chain...
Come Back- One of my favorites on the CD.... excellent track..
I will- Also one of my favorites... Usher turns back to lover boy in this one...
Bedtime- One of the singles but on Usher LIVE... tied with Nice & Slow for the best slow jam on the album...
One Day You'll be Mine- Good Track... beat is one of the best on the album
