I am an older reviewer who grew up with 50's,60's music(the best ever !). I think this young group has a remarkably fresh yet to me an old sound too,
that takes me back to several groups.
I hear a little Kinks sound here which really draws me in.
Love em..just bought the cd or as I still like to say album.

This self-titled debut album quickly became a critics' darling and then just as quickly suffered from a backlash when indie fans decided it was cool not to like it. Nevermind. The songs are fun and when the band's pop sensibilities run headlong into their world music aspirations, memorable songs happen.

I am really surprised about this band. I didn't know it (in Spain they are not known), but I bought the Cd because was one of my Amazon Recommendations. The sound is great and from the beginning with "Perfect Roof" until the end of the album with "The Kids Don't Stand A Chance" the tunes are great, "refreshing"Free Music Review: Awesome Album!

To keep it short, this is an awesome album. I find it very relaxing to listen to pretty much any time of day, especially after listening to death metal (which is my favorite). I also like very much that Vampire Weekend uses many African beats. Its different, and they use them very tastefully.Free Music Review: Terrific

Highly recommended. It reminds me of a mix between poppy-punk and Paul Simon's "Graceland"; an African sound with a punk flavor. The combination is so fresh and fun, lots of energy. I now need to purchase another one because I lent my copy to a friend and she won't give it back!
