Free Music Notes for Diver DownFree Music Review: Van Halen's Worst Hit: 2 StarsThis is the one Van Halen album that never should have been made. The fact that half of its songs are covers is bad enough, but most of the covers are poorly chosen, and of the originals, all but one or two are total crap. Avoid this album; in fact don't even ask for it for Christmas or Chanukah. I'm not.
Free Music Review: Great Album but has it's down side. Hit: 4 StarsThis is a great album by Van Halen. This album has it's pros and cons too. PROS. Songs have great rythem and a good beat such as "Where have all the Good Times Gone", "(Oh)Pretty Women", and "Hang'em High". All songs worth listening to.
CONS. To many covers of other songs. To much foolin around like "Big Bad Bill" and "Happy Trails". Still it's a great album and worth getting if you like Van Halen. If i could i would like to give it 4 1/2. Diver Down is not worth putting Down.
Free Music Review: Pretty much a cover album Hit: 5 StarsWhile not as popular with most fans as Women and Children First, and Fair Warning, Diver Down is a much better album. There are a couple of cool instrumentals, and an awesome cover of Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman.Although there are only a couple originals on this album, I would have to say it is more interesting than Van Halen's 3rd and 4th albums.
Free Music Review: Van Halen V,chronologically Hit: 4 StarsIn 1982,Van Halen put out their fifth consecutive album DIVER DOWN. This album is only 32 minutes in length. This album features covers of (OH)PRETTY WOMAN,and HAPPY TRAILS. Ray Davies composed WHERE HAVE ALL THE GOOD TIMES GONE?. I'm not sure if Davies' band,The Kinks, recorded that one. (OH)PRETTY WOMAN was a hit for the late Roy Orbison in the early 60's and HAPPY TRAILS was recorded by the late Roy Rogers and the late Dale Evans(composed by Evans). Instrumental tracks include CATHEDRAL,INTRUDER and the introduction of LITTLE GUITARS,which was a separate track. Another cover song, which was a hit like (OH)PRETTY WOMAN,is DANCING IN THE STREET,first recorded by the R&B group Martha & The Vandellas in the 60's. The song was covered in '85 by David Bowie and Mick Jagger.
