Free Music Review: Bad Mastering / Errors With Single Versions
Hit: 3 Stars

Check the inside of your inserts closely because many of the songs are supposed to be presented in their single versions but none are, such as "Right Now." I hate it when that happens because a lot of times, single versions can only be found on greatest hits cds. That is a bad selling point for me, but for the casual fan, the collection has a good mix on it.

Free Music Review: Brought down by the Hagar tracks and horrid booklet
Hit: 3 Stars

I wanted to tear up the booklet for this CD when I first read it but didn't because it was from the library. The Van Halen fan that writes the commentary says something along the lines of "Doubters that Van Halen could successfully come back with a new singer were resoundingly silenced after Sammy Hagar joined the band". The nerve of that guy! Everyone I talk with about Van Halen thinks that Sammy Hagar ruined the band and how could you not think that? He's so annoying! His voice doesn't at all fit with the jammin' chords of Eddie Van Halen and thanks to Hagar the wild guitar talents are drastically degraded. Face it, Van Halen was perfect with David Lee Roth and when he left the band was done for. The Hagar CDs suck big time, and I"m guessing his solo albums are just as bad. Don't get this CD, because although it has all the Roth hits you could want it doesn't have enough good music for the price it will cost you. Instead buy the classic albums "Van Halen (self-titled)" and "1984".

Free Music Review: Too Much of One World and Not Enough of The Other
Hit: 3 Stars

Well, well, well. After listening to this album all the way through for the first time since I bought it, I had to ask myself the question, "Why?". Yes, Van Halen's latest addition to their discography does nothing to encourage any young and coming fans, who may want to go on and by more Van Halen albums. Personally, I've never enjoyed the Sammy Hagar years, and I've constantly found that the years, though drastically shortened, with David Lee Roth have done more to make me want to continue basking in the glow that is Van Halen. If you're in the same boat as I am, BEWARE!!! This album takes the route of focusing more on Hagar, and less on Roth. Yes, "Best of Both Worlds" really isn't. The album, opens up with "Eruption", causing you to foolishly believe that you've just purchased a maginifcent album....but then come the next three tracks, "Learning To See", "Up For Breakfast" and "It's About Time", which are the newest songs to be inserted into the VH Catalogue. Now, yes, admittedly, ANY greatest hits album that has been recently issued by a still-surviving group must have the new stuff(case in point, observe The Who's "Then And Now", which features two new tracks: "Old Red Wine", and "Real Good Looking Boy"), however, the real problem persists in the four more Hagar tunes then there are Roth tunes. The only two Hagar hits that I've ever enjoyed appear on this album("Why Can't This Be Love?", and "Right Now"), which merits one star in and of itself. The other two stars that I've awarded go to the fact that you've got a great selection of David-Lee-Roth-era hits on here, however, you have to swim like hell through the river of despondency that is Sammy-Hagar-era VH in order to land ashore on the bountiful land of "VH + David Lee Roth='HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!'" Now, I'm sure by reading this, some hardcore VH fans will be instantly plotting for my inevitable defeat, but hear me out. I have nothing against Sammy Hagar himself(personally, I've always enjoyed hearing "I Can't Drive 55"), I just adamantly believe that when Sammy Hagar joined the group, they lost that edge that they had over all other groups when Roth was a part of them, and this, so-called "Greatest Hits Collection" is living proof of the aforementioned statement.

Free Music Review: Good, but not great
Hit: 4 Stars

Most of the hits are here. But as a completist, I was left wanting more. What happened to "Humans Being" (a solid Sammy effort) from the "Twister" Soundtrack? Or "Me Wise Magic"? And, like other reviewers, I'm disappointed that nothing from Gary Cherone made it into the collection (though I guess it couldn't be called "The Best of Both Worlds" then). "Without You" from VH3 was a great song, and "Fire in the Hole" from the same (and the "Lethal Weapon 4" soundtrack) would have added to it. A good collection, but missing some key tracks. FOUR STARS

Free Music Review: Made just for money? No Van Halen III tracks:( poor new music
Hit: 3 Stars

Well, this is just a collection of singles, so it's VH in commercial way, of course there are good tracks but there is, for example, "Dancing in the streets", the worst VH track, and it's a cover. And there are a lot of VH songs missing! Stupid, isn't it?
No Van Halen III single song! Reason- it was not too commercial enough??? Well, I don't care, it is my favorite album.
Three new songs:
2 It's about time - song with no balls, chorus are not good enough to push this song further. 7/10
3 Up for breakfast - synth and guitar, song similar to Why cant this be love, but much more in rock style...sadly still not enough -7/10
4 Learning to see - well, if you cant have what you like you have to like what you have... the only one new song that has marks of really good song but Hagar's singing spoils it(only in chorus he is good as he used to be, and his screams are also ok).
8/10
