Free Music Review: Missing DLR.......
Hit: 3 Stars

This band was so good when they came out, I cant understand what went wrong. I know DLR has an incredible ego and he an ***hole sometimes but jesus, he is the voice of this band. Hagar sucks, he should have never joined. Though some of the reviewers have said the last 3 live songs are on this CD in studio form, Panama is not on this CD in studio form. I think it was a bad idea to put those on here without Roth singing them. Hagar does them no justice. I wish they would bury the hachet with Roth and go out on tour, they would sell out EVERYWHERE. Well I like this CD but it should be more Roth material and less Hagar. oh well what are ya gonna do.

Free Music Review: Good job for how many good songs they have
Hit: 5 Stars

C'mon, everyone knows that Van Halen is one of the best rock bands ever, and they have so many hits. It's impossible for them to put everyone of their hits onto a CD, because it would take a 5 disc set with a $100 price tag. They did a good job of putting popular hits on the CD and hits that only Van Halen fans know. Metallica is my favorite band (followed by Van Halen) and Metallica has the same problem, to put all of their hits into a greatest hits collection is impossible, because Metallica has so many great songs. You can argue what songs should've been on their, but realistically it is what is, and I think they did a good job.

In regards to they whole Hagar/Roth issue, I'm glad they used Hagar for live Roth songs, because it shows that Van Halen can move on after Roth screwed them over. Sammy Hagar has one of the best voices in rock, and he performed those Roth songs great. Maybe they were rubbing it in Roth's face, but who cares, he won't come back to the band anyways, and Sammy Hagar is much better anyways. I just hope I can see Van Halen live with Hagar before they call it quits.

Free Music Review: ah yes it is delicious
Hit: 5 Stars

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light, and they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. (Isaiah 9:2)

Oh HE11 to the YEAH!!! It is super tasty!? After many deep and profound brain things..Van Halen have hatched a cunning plan!

Free Music Review: Great Collection fuelled by all Hits
Hit: 5 Stars

You know, the brief Sammy-back-in-VH happened on 2004 left to all around the world and specially we the VH fans this huge legacy of the purest rock 'n roll ever tasted by anyone. Containg 3 major new songs that prove the chemistry-of-anger between Sam and Ed, BOBW focused on the 2 great eras of the band: DLR + RR. To me it's a great idea they did switchin' each track from both. You can compare, and realize that there are not 2 sides: it's just Van Halen!!!! Only complaint a little thing: the last 3 tracks (live versions by Sam of the first era) are quite good, but they'd tried puttin' 3 songs a lot of us think they shouldn't left over: mean street, humans being, summer nights (or, in case, romeo delight - great one).

So c'mon, put 'em both together, shake with a little piece of favorite whiskey, tequila or just can a beer, an enjoy!

Free Music Review: Best of Both Worlds?
Hit: 3 Stars

Ok, first off this is a pretty good compilation but could've been so much better. I do like the track list (alternated from DLR to Sammy). Cool idea and keeps it fresh. Most of the great tunes are here but they missed a few essentials. Where's HUMANS BEING, LITTLE GUITARS, DON'T TELL ME, THE DREAM IS OVER, SOMEBODY GET ME A DOCTOR, MINE ALL MINE, AMSTERDAM and HEAR ABOUT IT LATER. All of these tunes are great and should've been on the CD instead of the live tracks, UP FOR BREAKFAST, LEARNING TO SEE and DANCING IN THE STREET. What about the track that was left off the TWISTER soundtrack...the one that was to be VH's STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN??? I'm sure there are other unreleased VH tracks (better than UP FOR BREAKFAST and LEARNING TO SEE) that would've been nice additions for the fans. I think, to make this compilation complete, they should've included WITHOUT YOU (Cherone had very few decent tracks but this one was ok).

Any die-hard VH fan knows this release was to pump up the supporting tour. I'm sure that was the main reason to include the live tracks. I think Eddie is more about the money than the fans these days (the band looks like they're done...again).

Most of these tracks are great but this compilation is lacking. I'm a huge VH fan but this was disappointing. Too many tracks are missing and too many lame tracks made the final cut. It seems like the real agenda was to pump the tour or maybe Sammy didn't want to include HUMANS BEING or the 'other' unreleased TWISTER track because that was a rough period for the band? Most VH fans will have this material (including a proper version of FINISH...) so there isn't much here to get a die-hard fan excited (I have to admit IT'S ABOUT TIME is a great tune). However, it's the best greatest hits package out there for VH so any new fans and casual fans would enjoy it.

The liner notes/booklet are really lacking. Cool presentation and packinging but the content...well...it wasn't anything special.
