Free Music Notes for Van HuntFree Music Review: Pretty damn awesome!!<3 4.5 stars. Hit: 5 StarsVan Hunt is awesome. What makes him so is that he has very colorful and descriptive lyrics. His follow-up isn't nearly as good, but if you like this CD, then it is definitely worth checking out still.
I first saw Van Hunt singing his song, "Dust" on TV for his video. A while after, I saw this CD at the mall and recalled that I liked his first single so I decided to take a chance on it. The whole car ride home, we listened to it and it blew me away. It's pretty mellow mostly but there are definitely upbeat numbers too.
My favorite song by him so far is Hold My Hand. I don't know why, but it just is. Get this today and get one for a friend. The chances are that they will like!
4.5 stars!
Free Music Review: Fire Hit: 4 StarsVan Hunt is quite talented. He is a cross between Lenny Kravitz, Prince,
and .... just something new.... love this cd. Because it is quite an
exhibit of his great range and diversity. Can't wait to hear more from this artist...
Free Music Review: Just Press Play Hit: 5 Stars Unfortunately Van Hunt is one of those Neo-Soul artists that is not played nearly often enough on mainstream radio. I waited too long to purchase this CD. This is one I should have had the first day it came out! It is soul stirring from beginning to end. It is one of those CD's you can just put in the CD player and press play!
Free Music Review: Not quite the new Prince, but still a highly talented musician who should command respect for years to come Hit: 4 StarsThese Prince comparisons are starting to bug me, because Prince is a singular talent that there will never be a "new" version of. However, Van Hunt is nonetheless a very talented artist who stands several feet above most R&B artists that have made their debuts in this decade. More of an organic-soul type (whereas Prince covers almost every genre imaginable), his smooth, atmospheric, textured songs basically all fall into that category, but his voice and lyrical skills are definitely more mature and developed than the average 2004 soul release. He should also be widely applauded for his complete avoidance of samples. That's certainly something that can be said about few (if any) black artists of the last decade. One thing that does bother me, however, is a line from the song "Highlights"). Why does almost every artist nowadays seem to think that it's necessary to use the word "f-ck" in their recordings? Aside from that, this album is definitely worth having.
Free Music Review: Addicted Hit: 5 StarsI can only say that if you appreciate good music, this CD is not a dissapointment. This CD can be played over and over again without ever being tired. I wish he would get the recognition he deserves.
