I am so pleased to see that there are some out there who are doing something other than the "corporate" vision that the record companies and "trend-makers" are trying to force Feed us. Yeah, this cat is the closest I've seen musicall to P. Let's face it, "Down Here in Hell" is a Prince cut, let's just call it how it is. This brotha here is the TROOF! Real. He even brings some Beatles feel to the table with "Precious." But cuts 1 thru 4 are off the damn chain and there's no hope in putting them back on it, so deal with it. It just keeps heating up after that. All in all, Van DAMN is the much anticipated bright star we've been waiting for in the Neo Soul arena. If you don't have this CD then you don't have ears.Free Music Review: They come along every 10 years or so...

Who? Great artists like Van Hunt!! About 10 years ago there was D'Angelo... and about 20 years before that there was Prince and before that it was Stevie Wonder. And now another wunderkind of sorts who can play multiple instruments and arrange and write and sing has come along. Damn I think I'm in love not because he reminiscent of Prince or Stevie but because he's created something so fresh in this generic music world where one artist sounds like the next... or worst yet a past great artist. Don't get me wrong, he's been influenced by some of the greats but he manages to create his own sound and rather easily which to me means he's an artist and not just a singer. "Dust" is still in heavy rotation aka the repeat button on my cd player but there is also "Seconds of Pleasure"...a very mature piece absent of any speak of bumping and grinding. "Hold my Hand", "Highlights" and "Out of the Sky" are all fine songs each with its own distinct vibe...there is nothing formulaic going on here with Hunt or his music...which leads me to ask when does the next masterpiece drop?Free Music Review: Bought a year ago, and still a favorite

The lyrics are simply genious. I still get goosebumps all over when I listen to 'down here in hell' or 'dust'. Van hunt has the rare talent of convincing you that what he is telling is real.Free Music Review: Hidden Charm

This album is the best album I've bought all year. I'm such a big fan, "What can I say" just blows me away! I can't wait for the follow up.
