Van Morrison has never made a bad album. Sure, we're all sick of hearing the Bert Berns stuff---but even that was way ahead of its time---at the time. What's become obvious to me since I first heard "Here Comes the Night", Mystic Eyes" or " Brown Eyed Girl" is the trick is to try to keep up with Van--cause he makes traveling at the speed of light sound effortless. This is a wonderful live update on a classic original. I am blown away that this can sit along side the original and command my listening interest and awe. I love both the original and the recent Live version and marvel at Van's ability to 'transcend" eras. This is a keeper and well worth the purchase! I had a chance to attend this concert. Unfortunately I was unable to go, but I am so happy this disc is available! From the opening lines of Astral Weeks, straight through to the inclusion of lyrics to "Town Called Paradise" and the call and response parts of Common One (one of my favorite Van Morrison tunes) this is an absolutely beautiful CD! Believe it or not, I've never heard the original Astral Weeks, despite the fact that I love Van Morrison. Nevertheless, this has to be one of the best of Van. The band is incredible, and when you hear that one-of-a-kind voice, the world is transformed into an eternally beautiful and cool place. I love this CD, play it all the time in the suv! It is soo blusey and mellow! Best music he ever made! He is a genius! Ballerina and Madame George my favs also the first cut! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! I would recommend it for any Van Morrison fan and anyone who loves smooth jazz! Paula
