Free Music Review: Still Needs Some Healing

I'd give it an OK overall. Better than his bluesy run in the mid-80's, but not up to par with a lot of his better stuff (Into the Music, No Guru, Poetic Champions, Avalon Sunset...)It's very listenable and Precious Time is the best single song he's done in a long, long time. But most of the lyrics are downright weird. What's the deal with "High Summer" and the references to Lucifer and his crown of stars? And then "Golden Autimn Day" is nice, until you realize the lyrics are about getting mugged by a couple of thugs and wanting to take revenge on them. Then you have your usual batch of whiney, this-celebrity-musician-life-is-so-tough songs (Philosophers Stone, Back on Top and New Biography). He needs to either just give that a rest or take up brick laying, book keeping or window cleaning or something that won't make him so unhappy.
Afraid there won't be another truly great album until he fixes his head, gets some healing done, and starts enjoying life a little (or at least appearing like he does). But, it's still better than 90% of what I've bought since "The Healing Game" two years ago.
