Free Music Notes for Hard Nose the HighwayFree Music Review: Avoid this one. Hit: 2 StarsBeing a huge fan of Van the Man, I thought he was infallable. I was wrong. It's not that the production, the lyrics, or the instrumentation is bad, there is just a severe lack of energy. Van just sounds like he's not trying on this one. Both Snow in San Anselmo and Warm Love are excellent and Wild Children is ok (the definitive performance is on Too Late To Stop Now). The rest is just bland. If you are just starting your Van collection get Astral Weeks and Moondance NOW (ignore all roadblocks and traffic signs)!
Free Music Review: Bein'Green Hit: 5 StarsIt ain't easy bein'Green. However bein' just green ain't really what this album is all about. This album is about you, it's about love, it's about the seasons, more importantly it's Van Morrison experimenting with music and finding the words to match. It's wonderful!
Free Music Review: Some excellent classic "shorts" and a beautiful long set Hit: 5 StarsPerfect for Autumn, folks. Besides "snow" and "hard nose" and other excellent classic shorts, the long set (originally the backside of the lp album) is beautiful, the height of Van and his musicians at that period: "green", "christmas song" and finally, a soaring, rising, "purple heather."
Free Music Review: an underrated album with some real classics Hit: 5 Starsmorrison's early period comes to an end with this album marked by "snow in san anselmo," "warm love," and "hardnose the highway." A fine band explores the rather jazzy style that morrison was just them developing after dabbling with it on parts of astral weeks and moondance. if you are a morrison fan, this would be a good place to branch out from the more typical basic albums.
