Free Music Notes for Heroes & ThievesFree Music Review: I've made worse purchases... Hit: 2 StarsSo, I am a big fan of Vanessa Carlton, I think that she is a very talented song writer as well as an amazing pianist, but when it comes to this years "Heroes and Thieves" I'm not very impressed...in the least.
I got the CD and was very excited, and when I put it in I expected to hear 11 different songs...but after listening through the CD 3 times I felt like I had spent the last two hours of my life listening to the same song over and over. There was nothing really original on this album and I have to say that I could hear the same rhythms from previous songs on her first two CD's , on this one. I've made worse purchases, but I really could have lived without this CD as I only really like two songs, but oh well. I just hope that Vanessa can find her edge again if she ever decides to make another one.
Free Music Review: Vanessa Is Back!!! Hit: 5 StarsVanessa Carlton is back with another great album. Heroes and Thieves is definitely the best album of the year. Unfortunately, the only dissapointment is that there are only 11 tracks, but they are all amazing songs.
Nolita Fairytale- the main single. This song is very upbeat and happy. It's a great song that really grabs the attention of the listeners of the album.
Hands on Me- I love this song. It's totally different than hearing it live becuase the violin and other various instruments help the song expand.
Spring Street- definetely the best song on the album. Vanessa really shows of her writing skills in this beautiful song. The lyrics are amazing, and this is like the "annie" of heroes and thieves. This song is sad and has a saddening melodic tune.
My Best- This song is so fun to listen to. Vanessa really brings out her love for music in this song.
Come Undone- This song is amazing. I love the long piano solo. Vanessa tricks listeners into believing that this song is live, and it is almost like a recital with the solo. She shows her amazing vocals and piano skills in this song.
The One- This is my 2nd favorite song on the album. The piano as well as the backing lyrics with Stevie Nicks are great. Vanessa and Stevie work really well together to make this beautiful song.
Heroes and Thieves- I never really liked this song live, but the album version is amazing. The strings on the track are beautiful as well as the piano.
This Time- This is probably my least favorite track on the album, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad song. Its a good song, but I just can't seem to like it that much.
Fools Like Me- I love this song to. The whistling in it is cool, and I love how it sounds totally different live than the album version.
Home- This is a great song, too. Just like Come Undone, Home features and long piano solo at the end. The solo is amazing and so is the whole song.
More Than This- This is another amazing song. The piano and the lyrics are beautiful. And at the very end of the song, her dog Lord Victor barks.
Overall this is an amazing album. Vanessa has really grown since Be Not Nobody, her first album. I would recommend this to all Vanessa Carlton fans, and to anybody that likes peaceful and good music.
Free Music Review: Expecting more, but greatly surprised Hit: 4 StarsWhen I previewed this cd on Amazon, I didn't like it. I quickly changed my opinion about it. Vanessa is such a talented pianist. The tracks are amazing. I definitely recommend this album to all those Vanessa Carlton fans out there. You will appreciate her skills. And she can really sing too.
Free Music Review: Heroes and Thieves Hit: 5 Stars3 LONG years I have awaited this album. True Nessaholics know what I'm talking about.
Heroes and Thieves is probably one of the best cds I own. Next to Harmonium, this album seems almost polar opposite. In Harmonium, Carlton reached deep and dark subjects in her songs, while in Heroes and Thieves, she reaches that, but in a more uplifting and light way.
The first single, Nolita Fairytale, is a really good song. An upbeat song about life in a neighborhood in New York called NoLita. The song has a really good hook and chorus.
Listen to:
Hands on Me, my personal favorite, a really good chorus and hook.
My Best, an upbeat song about always having that one person to lean on;
The One feat. Stevie Nicks, a really really good one;
Heroes and Thieves, a song about the people in your life who are there to help and those who aren't, and truly learning who's gonna be there for
you in the end;
Fools like Me, a song that EVERYONE can relate to definitely;
More than This, starts slow, but don't be disappointed, a truly grand song that will overcome you.
Skip: None, and try to listen to the cd as a whole, because it tells a story and every song is sincerely promising and magical in it's own way.
xoxo.
