Free Music Notes for StormFree Music Review: Well worth buying Hit: 5 Stars
I purchased this CD over 6 months ago and it is still in my regular rotation of those CDs I listen to at least once a week. There is a lot of variety amongst the tracks, and so I think you'll find yourself gravitating towards some of the pieces more than others. I don't think I will EVER grow tired of listening to "I'm a Doun". I frankly don't care as much for the techno additions to Vivaldi. I love Vivaldi, and I really like techno, but I'm not one for the mixing of the two. Listening to the Vivaldi tracks here simply makes me want to go listen to the more traditional renditions of The Four Seasons. Still, "I'm a Doun", "Happy Valley", "Embrasse Moi" and several of the other tracks make this a 5-star CD, regardless of what I think of the Vivaldi tracks.
Free Music Review: How could I ever love a violin player? Hit: 5 Stars
I admit I feel in love with Vanessa's first CD "The Violin Player", but "Storm" is my absolute favorite recording right now of any kind.I have listened maybe a hundred times and never get tired ( and often hear something new). Her versatility and expansive talent shine all through this CD. Vanessa is obviously her own person and not afraid of trying new sounds and techniques, who would ever even think of combining flaminco guitar and violin? I often sit back and close my eyes and imagine this attractive young asian girl with a perfectly proper British accent furiously strumming her signature white electric violin and swear to myself I will see her in person someday. Okay, if you are looking for something new, wonderful music, and a rockin' good time- BUY THIS CD!
Free Music Review: fresh, exciting, upbeat twist on classical - sooo hot Hit: 5 Stars
i was in a video bar in DC _____ years ago (it's gone now), and heard some music that made me stop dead in my tracks, listen to the music, stay glued to the video, and wait until I could find out, "WHO IS THAT?" It was Vanessa Mae. I bought this cd the next week, and it's still among the favorites in my collection.
VM has a brash, unique, peppy approach to anything she does. She's anything but boring. Her technique and respect for the underlying music is clear. I've slipped a VM in where I've had my hair cut, popped it in in the car - every time, people stop and pay attention.
I dont listen to her 24/7, mind you, but had to post a review 'cause it's among my favs. Hope you enjoy it too.
Free Music Review: Outstanding listening experience! Hit: 5 Stars
When I first heard "The Violin Player" two years ago, I was already blown away by Vanessa-Mae talents. She takes classical pieces (that are often already state of the art--in classical terms) and makes it something brand new, both very beautiful and exotic. This second pop album is a great continuation of her work and goes on to show how extraordinary Vanessa-Mae is. My favorites on "Storm" are "Bach Street Prelude" where she shows her creativity in sound selection (from her fantastic violon to a car squeeling on the road and everything in between), and "The Blessed Spirits", a song that carries your spirit so high it could put you in a trance!
