That's what this album really is - the show's gift to the audience. Who can forget the shy, embarrassed Ally with the sexy rendition of "Santa Baby" or the snow-covered streets in the episodes with Robert Downey, Jr. "White Christmas" was unexpectedly filled with pathos while "River" is an almost last hurrah. A few other artists appear but once again, Vonda Shepard saves the day. She carries the album just as she carries the show. When my husband and I first saw this CD in the store we laughed and said "oh brother". But when I read the reviews that others gave it here at Amazon, AND I heard Robert Downey Jr. sing on the program (which I thought was dubbed at first) I gave in and bought it. I have to write that I truly enjoy this Christmas album. Vonda's songs are great, RDJ can actually sing really well, and all the other cast sings appropriate songs for their characters...there isn't one I DON'T like...truly! I Loved this CD because not only was it wonderful to play during Christmas Parties It also made that wonderful Christmas feeling come easier. I recomend this CD for all who love Christmas and the magic that comes with it, as well as each Christmas song sung. I also love the show and now I have the Christmas songs that come from the show and I can add this CD with my other Ally McBeal Soundtracks and complete my Ally McBeal collection. I love this album. I rated this album 5 stars because of one song. I went to my local cd store looking for this after I watched the very talented, Robert Downey Jr. perform an old song entitled, "River." I was VERY shocked at the fact that he can sing. Anyways, to make a long story short, try the cd. If not for the Christmas songs, but to hear an amazing song done by a very talented and gifted actor. You won't regret it. Fans of other Ally McBeal compilations with Vonda Shepard will not be disappointed by this CD. The best track on the entire CD has to be Robert Downey Jr.'s soulful "River." Other standouts include Vonda Shepard's "Please Come Home for Xmas," and the all- too-short song belted out by Lisa Nicole Carson "Santa Claus Got Stuck in My Chimney." Album is upbeat and cheery, good party music. Do it again next year you guys!
