This is a soundtrack.Know what I mean?
The Miles Davis stuff is great--but it would make more sense to buy the Miles Davis CDs and hear the tunes in the context in which they were presented by the artist.
The Israel Kamakawiwo'ole song is atmospheric, nothing more, which is why it was picked for the EToys commercial last year.
And the Bill Frisell stuff...well, let me put it this way: Are there any soundtracks that do NOT have Bill Frissell songs on them?
Beware the soundtrack album: it rarely bares second listening.

This cd is great if your a deep jazz fan, with tracks by Miles Davis you can't go wrong and the track of Somewhere Over the Rainbow/It's a Wonderful World is just wonderful. I was dissapointed to find that the other song during the credits (the one that sounds like the True Romance theme (probably a marimba as the main instrument) wasn't on there. If anybody knows what that song is or where I can get it, PLEASE write me, I loved it! Thanks!Free Music Review: Movie Fan from NY is right!

The Kid does NOT meet Forrester over the Internet. The reviewer needs to got back to Movie Review School. Can't believe he/she would miss this. "NY Fan" calls it right again about the choice between writing and his friends. Score is nice compliment to story. Too bad we never get to hear Forrester reflect on the importance music is to writing. It would make for a nice touch.Free Music Review: I loved the movie

I loved this movie and wanted the song at the end of the movie when Sean Connery rides away o nhis bike. Unfortunately that upbeat song did not make the CD. Not sure why. If you like Miles Davis and all of the slow back ground music - then you will enjoy this Cd. I bought this album after seeing this wonderful film. I recently had a baby girl and she loves track #8 Over the Rainbow. It's one of my childhood favorites and I hope it becomes one of hers.The other other selections are good but a lot different from the usual Miles. They are a bit dark.
