Free Music Review: Where's A3, not to mention some other stuff?

This is a nice cross-section of music used on the ``The Sopranos.'' But I'm a little surprised that A3, or Alabama 3, which wrote the title song ``Woke Up This Morning,'' is not represented on the new set with the stirring ``Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlife,'' which was thought well enough to kick off one of the opening scene of Season 3's first episode. And with two discs, too bad it didn't include Johnny Thunders' ``You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory,'' which was used to close a memorable Season 2 episode. Or how about Les Paul's ``I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles.'' A lot of stuff that caught my fancy simply isn't here.Free Music Review: something good, something's missing

The two best tracks are from Casey Chambers and Nils Lofgren. Rolling Stones' "Thru and thru" is a lost and found gem. The track by Uncle Junior is a joke, but a good one - yes. what i find missing are tracks by Almamegretta, who are immensely popular in Europe and represent the nueva Italia music scene. Instead we get Jovanotti, whoa! And it wouldn't hurt to have a nice Italian ballad from yesteryear, like say Pino Donaggio's "Come sinfonia". Music evokes feelings . . . strong feelings . . . feelings that occur during and long after an event. When Richie Aprile is deservedly blown away we thank Janice for saving the world . . . well, at least HER world. The song played at the end of the episode is Annie Lennox's "I Saved The World Today" . . . arguably the best song ever used in a Soprano's episode. It's absence from "Peppers & Eggs" is unfortunate. I liked most of the music from The Sopranos, especially the theme, which isn't on this particular CD, and this had a lot of the music I enjoyed from the series.
