Free Music Review: England's Finest Hit: 5 Stars
Billy Elliot is the inspirational tale of a young kid who escapes the troubles that surround him by taking up ballet in England circa 1984. Director Stephen Daldry expertly uses music to add depth to certain scenes. The cd contains much of the music from the film. Many of the songs are from one of England's biggest acts from the 70's, glam rockers T. Rex. Their "Cosmic Dancer" is played over the opening credits as Billy bounces on a trampoline. The song sets the perfect tone for the film. He dances along with his ballet teacher to the band's fun and silly "Ride A White Swan" and Billy runs in anger to the propulsive strains of "Children Of The Revolution". Striking workers are chased by policemen to The Clash's "London Calling" while Billy dances maniacally to The Jam's "Town Without Malice" after his family gets into an argument with his ballet teacher. The cd intersperses clips of dialogue from the film between songs. The soundtrack provides a good look into the film as well as some English bands like The Jam, The Style Council and T. Rex who were big stars in their native country, but never really hit it big in the US.
Free Music Review: My favorite movie EVER (and the soundtrack rocks too) Hit: 5 Stars
For the longest time, I didn't have a favorite movie. Then "Billy Elliot" came out and changed all that. I must have seen it a trillion times, and I can practically recite the entire movie's dialogue. The music is a huge part of that, not to mention the wonderful cast (who is with me in saying that Jamie Bell should have gotten an Oscar?). The scene where Billy dances out his anger and frustration to The Jam's "A Town called Malice" is my favorite scene, and I feel him, and I want to be inside his body and dancing out the frustration with him. Other reviewers have mentioned that songs like "Cosmic Dancer" and "I Believe" seem to have been written about Billy and I totally agree. This album will have you up off the sofa and dancing, and the songs will stick in your head for days. I don't have the album yet (am currently broke, haha) but I'm gonna be getting it asap and I recommend you do too. Don't forget the movie, if you haven't seen it yet! It started the whole thing, and besides it'd be a crime not to see this movie.

Free Music Review: Best CD Ever!! Hit: 5 Stars
When I first saw Billy Elliot in the cinema I thought wow! I had not seen such a incredible film in all my life. The actors were great (especially Jamie Bell). What came to my attention most though was that most of the songs such as "I love to boogie" was made in the 1970-80's and the film was set in the 1970-80's which made the film even better.Last Wednesday, I was on the Jamie Bell website looking to see how much the video and cd was when I was shocked to see that the video was ... and the book was ... and when I went into Woolworths the next day the video was ... and the book was ... so be aware! Also, if you don't want to pay for the cd you can download the songs on to a cd from ... and make your own version.Last of all, when my friends saw the film they thought jamie Bell was a sissy just because he does ballet but who ever thinks this I reckon they look more of a sissy.
