Free Music Notes for Billy Elliot (2000 Film)Free Music Review: Nearly Perfect Hit: 5 Stars
This is a GREAT combination of songs, compiled by someone who really knew what they were doing. With an exception to the painfully sappy 'I Believe' and Eagle Eye Cherry's formula pop 'Burning Up' (which sounds almost exactly like his hit song, Save Tonight or whatever) it is perfect. The T-Rex songs, especially 'Get It On', are perfect English late seventies-early eighties rock. 'Town Called Malice' is very fun and 'London Calling' by the Clash is probably one of their best songs ever. I got this CD as a present and have listened to it non-stop, which surprised me because I rarely buy soundtracks. If you liked the music in the movie (which is very cute), you'll love the soundtrack, but you don't need to see the movie to enjoy it. It's worth it just for T-Rex and London Calling.
Free Music Review: An excellent CD; but still... Hit: 5 Stars
I absolutely loved the film 'Billy Elliot,' and I was drawn to the wonderful compilation of music that it contained...so I bought the CD, and even though I love the CD, I do have a couple of problems with it:1. There are five unnecessary (but ok) tracks of edited dialogue. 2. The T-Rex song 'Cosmic Dancer' appears on the CD twice; while it's a great song, it doesn't need two tracks of it. 3. This CD doesn't include and of the beautiful piano concertos heard in the film (and if you're wondering what those are titled-and I know many of you are-just look for the complete list of all music appearing in the movie in the credits of the film). But since there are still 11 great songs on the CD, I still love it immensely, and I still highly recommend it! Enjoy! -Taylor
Free Music Review: Really good Hit: 5 Stars
The songs on this soundtrack are both old and new, fast and slow and they are all very powerful and catchy. I like all of the songs, especially "Cosmic Dancer" and "I Believe". "Cosmic Dancer" is played over the opening credits and it makes me feel nostalgic. I was not a fan of T-Rex before, but I absolutely love this song after watching Billy Elliot. "I Believe" was written specially for the film, and the film's director asked Stephen Gately to record it. Daldrey also directed the video for this song. It's a lovely song, though sadly music with a positive message like this is considered uncool these days. Overall this soundtrack is a good mix of British rock and pop. It is a definite must for anyone who loves the film.
Free Music Review: Great Soundtrack for a Wonderful Film Hit: 5 Stars
Billy Elliot was no doubt one of the greatest movies this past year; with wonderful actors and great music. While listening to this soundtrack, you can really feel what made Billy want to dance, especially The Jam's "A Town Called Malice" and T.Rex's "I Like to Boogie". The theme songs of the movie, I Believe and Cosmic Dancer, could have been written exclusivly for Billy. The dialouge is also a wonderful treat. I do wish they had included the score, for the little piano music that Billy constantly plays and the song that he uses at the audition are great pieces of music; not to mention Swan Lake, an always timeless classic. Great CD! Makes you want to dance!.
Free Music Review: Favorite movie, great cd!!! Hit: 5 Stars
All I can say is that this is the best movie. I cried, I laughed and I also found myself inside of Billy. With this cd I can remember all of the parts of the movie. The whole bloody movie makes me cry!:) See the movie, get the cd and love it all in one night! I loved it so much the first time, I took the time to watch it twice after that. There were peices of me inside of the movie and kudos to the film makers. And Jamie Bell is so magnificent I want him to be my little brother:) Julie and Gary are ecxellent as well. Go get Billy Elliot asap.
